can i put meth on a 2.2 ls
#2
Meth is used to lower temps and prevent detonation especially when you mess with timing. Right now there would be no point in using meth unless you are one of the few that are f/i.
If you have big plans, however, its a good idea to start researching now though.

yes most definitely... meth is good for the F/I and higher power numbers. it has its pros and cons. be very careful... research research research before you even buy the kit so you know its what you wanna do and you can handle it. might make your engine go poof

it won't help you in any way, it will likely hurt your performance because it will cause you to run rich.
it does not work like nitrous, which basically adds oxygen (with more fuel) to make more power. methanol (or any additional fuel, whether it be isopropol, propane, xylene etc. etc.) does not react in a way that gives more power, it makes the fuel burn more predictably, thats a simple way to look at it. it basically increases the octane a little, but more so cools the air charge. because the compressed air is so hot the cooling effect is much greater than anything you could see, and that is why there is a benefit with forced induction, It doesn't create any extra power on its own.

its adding fuel to the mixture, sure the fuel isn't gasoline, but it still has to be burned. the o2 may pull some pulse width from the injectors to compensate but there will be a delay between the alcohol hitting the cylinder and the computer cutting back on the fuel.
I had it on my T-type, it worked great as long as i had about 5# of boost or more. below that it would make the engine bog down and run like garbage(too much fuel, not enough air, thats rich). It was also computer controlled, sure technology has come a long long ways in the last 20 years, but the computer system, as far as the way the injectors and the o2 relate to eachother has remained mostly unchanged.
glad you changed your sig pic back, I like that one a lot more!
