Can I reach 200 whp without F/I or cams?
Ok, this is the new plan, I need some of you guys who have these parts to let me know individual gains you've had with and without cams.
A. CAI
B. P N P Throttle Body & P N P Intake Mani
C. MRZ Crank Pulley
D. LSJ Injectors and Colder Plugs
E. P N P Clear Image Header 4 into 1
F. Clear Image Catless DP
G. 2.5" Magnaflow Clear Image Exhaust
H. Trifecta Tune to tie it all together
I. POSSIBLY, maybe later, a 50h wet shot of nitrous
What kind of gains do you think we're talking here w/o the nitrous added in? I'm hoping it will put me right around 200 whp, 205 wtq. Near a stock LSJ because I only paid $9,900 so for around 13000 total, a hell of a lot cheaper than an SS. Correct?
Also, what do you think it will do for gas mileage as long as my foot is out of it? I'm guessing maybe a 2 or 3 mpg gain due to no added cams. I might get the head ported and polished too, but not sure as of right now. I would be too tempted to put cams in it at that point though. Thanks guys, let me know your opinions.

The thing I'm trying to avoid with cams is a higher powerband I still want the car to be my daily driver I just want to have a little **** and git lol. Think stage 1 cams might do it, or would stage 2's be necessary?
Except those are used SC's, mine had 7 miles on it when I bought it and just hit 30,000 now, i only owe like 4 grand on the bad boy They were 19 g's when I bought my cobalt in 06

So basically, what I'm getting in concensus (sp) from everyone is that I'll gain about 20 whp (given that my 2.2 puts down about 136 at the wheels) from all that without cams, headwork, or nitrous? That is less than I had expected for like 3 g's I might have to make it 4.5 g's and get the cams and PNP the head with a new valve train.
smartass hahaha, was planning on doing a body kit anyways, and it being my daily driver, I'd **** up the leather anyways

But yeah your 3 grand isnt going to do much for you as far as power goes. Bolt ons only gain small amounts on N/A 4 bangers. Nitrous is the way to go for you. Cams will probably not even help you break 200.

Actually I've done a bunch of research now and I could be fully bolted on for about a grand, PNP throttle body and mani for about 150 and then a nitrous kit, so about 2 g's for a 200 whp N/A ride. Hell honestly I'd be happy just bolting it on, PNP and leave it so at around 165 whp, i think it'd be a fun ride even then, and about 32 everyday mpg, not bad, it just needs a little more pep, still going to be a daily driver, don't want a boosted beast, if I wanted to drop that much I'd just buy and old civic, B18 it and boost the hell out of it.

you can get a f/i system for under 2k you just got to know people im getting rid of the nitrous it rips holes in your wallet and i dont know how much longer a 100 shot will hold

Put it this way if you think your going to hit 200whp without cams or F/I, go buy a 100shot of n2o and drive it till it takes a crap on you. N your not going to need LSJ injectors.

i got a CAI, 2.4 manifold, Iridium Spark plugs, 4 to 1 headers with 2.5 piping magnaflow cat and exhaust. but still haven't reached 200hp. once i get my custom grind cams in and a hptuners tune than i think i still would get past 180hp. so nos will likely pull u over 200.

Even with stage 2 cams you probably won't break 175 whp. You just can't get enough air into the cylinders without using FI. Nitrous is just about the only way you are going to break 200 whp without doing some major upgrades to the engine internals.
If you had a 2.4L it would be possible to break the 200whp mark with just bolt ons and some small engine upgrades (such as cams), but with a 2.2 I just don't see it happening.
Again, just to be clear, if you want to spend enough money to do some major internal upgrades anything is possible.

I have stg. 1 comp cams fs in the classifieds. Powerband from 2800 to 6800 rpm's and you don't have to get upgraded springs, seats, retainers
But you will get about 160 - 165 WHP with those mods and not close to 200

i've done all bolt ons and ported head (minus cams) and its just not worth it...you're still gonna be slow
going with nitrous will make it even worse if you have to drive your car everyday without the spray IMO
FI all the way

Im pretty sure HPTuners has a tune for us 2.2 guys now. May be mistaken cause i havent done much research on tuning, but i could have sworn I read we have tuning avail from them now
