Catless 2.2

Catless 2.2
I just swapped my stock DP for a 2.5 catless DP. The swap went nice and easy. I took it out for a test drive and at first when I was at idle I thought it sounded pretty good. I got to driving and at low speeds again I thought it sounded good. I got out the main roads and on the highway and punched it. I noticed that when I'm on the throttle hard, and just before I hit 4000 RPMS it sounds like **** althe way until I let off the throttle.
has anyone else had any type of issues that caused this to happen?

Well I wasn't exactly looking for catless, but heard the gains were good. I had a 3in catless DP that I bought cheap $40 and then I had it up for trade or sale. I ended up trading it for the 2.5 catless DP. Had I known what it was going to sound like I would have been looking for a 2.5 with a Hi flow cat.

Was that for a cobalt/g5? And whats the difference between catless and gutted? Isn't that pretty much the same thing? Unless you get a long tube header, these are about the same. A free flowing exhaust system is the best. Catylitic converters purpose is mainly the reburn of exhaust fumes. And are very resrictive for flow. The stock muffler is also very restrictive. The less restrictions and the better the flow means better performance. I saw amazing feel to my car after doing the gutted cat and lsj exhaust and I wouldnt change it for the world.

I don't need the sarcasm. I was just explaining what was on my mind. I was rinning a custom 2.5 inch cat delete. How come I went from a cat delete back to a gutted cat and saw a big increase in power? As long as you keep some kind of restriction some where in the system it runs fine. I made sure I talked to a profesional exhaust tech before I did it. He said that I would actualy see a slight increase. And that it is some what beneficial mod.

and if your going to say it was shown on a dyno then show us the charts. and you also forgot to mention if it was a cobalt/g5, every car is different.
