CEL after fan switch install

I hooked up a switch that supplied ground to the low fan relay and everything worked fine but about a day later while driving the CEL came on for P0480 Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control Circuit -PCM.
Any ideas?
Should I wire my setup differently?
Thanks

yes wire it differently

what i did is cut the high speed wire, and ran that to a switch, from the switch it runs to the wiper fuse, now i can turn it on whenever i want by pushing the button...no cels, no blown fuses, no issues

Thanks for this advice. Never thought the setup I did would throw a CEL.
