Clutch is Gone
I have only 8200 miles on my 05 Cobalt and the clutch seems to be slipping a way. Going in to 1st ggear is fine but 2-5 the clutch doesnt seem to grap untill 3500 rpms i usually shift at two. When i give the car gas the rpms fly up too 4500 as if you are in nutral. It was fine untill about 3 hrs ago i let my friend try do learn stick (he said he had limited experiance)which was my fault and abad idea. Moral of the story do not let ANY ONE drive your car if they only had limited experiance they can burn your clutch up with in 10 minuets.
With that said, does anyone know how much a new stock clutch would run me? and Is the SS/SC clutch differant than the non-SC?

You need a clutch from a 2.2L ecotec, they are the same as the 2.2L ecotec cavalier/sunfire F23 trans. We sell SPEC, which is about the same price as OEM but will hold much better.

SC?
SC?
Were you in the car while your buddy learning to drive stick burned your clutch in 10 minutes, or did you let him take it out by himself ?

I was researching this and asked a the service writers at the dealership I used to work for, its usually 12 months/12k miles. I would double check that though.

is this your first manual transmission?
I have almost 45K on my stock clutch, half of which has been track duty and nitrous use, and everything holds fine.
I'm personally not a SPEC fan at all, but I'm interested in the Exedy unit I've seen.
