Clutch trouble?
Okay, sooo. I was a ******* maybe 4-5 months ago, and thought i was a baddass and i used to power shift. Well...that worked for maybe 2 races. After, I brought it in, and I broke some plastic piece that was on the fork and had some syncro wear. Soo, they fixed it right? **** no. IDK what they **** the dealership does, but they suck. I was on this highway with my gf, and I go to shift into 3rd and all I hear is grind then snap. I shift into 4th same thing. So i'm drivin around in 1st, 2nd and 5th. I had an appointment sat at 9 am, and they just looked at my car wednesday morning. Idk, what the **** happened but I dont ride the clutch, I wasnt being an ass with it bc my gf was in the car. I have a rule of thumb, don't race with the gf. If something goes wrong, I dont wanna c her get hurt. Soo I got a call this monring, and they say "Oh yeah ummm, We looked at the car, and ordered the parts. It'll be a few more days." And I go, is the clutch gone? They say they arent sure yet. Well, I think either the shift link go fucked over again, or 3rd n 4th gear are just gone. They'd have to be right? Because when I tried to shift into them, it just revved like it was in neutral. IDK, all I know is that I'm pissed. GAYEST **** EVER! lol, don't power shift.
Basically what I'm asking is if anyone else is having any clutch problems, because when I bought the car not even 2 months after the clutch went. They said it was a manufacture problem, and the tow truck driver said it was their 5th or 6th cobalt they towed that week with a blown clutch. ****** gay.

yeah clutches are very bad in these cars. there is all kinds of threds on the clutch issue. mine is ok after 36000 miles and lots of beating on. it slips from first to second. go after market when you get some money saved up thats your best bet.

if you're driving a 2.2 you're the first person i've heard of having clutch problems.

my syncro went out after having the car a day. It took the dealer two and a half weeks to fix the damn thing on top of that. We filed charges against the dealer and ended up getting free oil changes for as long as i own the car

lol
well, my car has almost 13,000 on it. i been through 1 clutch, broken plastic on the forks, and for the problem the post was about, they replaced i think 2 or 3 forks, synchros in 3rd n 4th, and a whole bunch of linkage ****. Now I gotta bring it BACK in because 2nd gear it pops out. And no, its not clutch abuse. I know how to drive a clutch. The clutches in the 2.2 suck. Alot of 2.2 people have problems with standard trannys. Actually, its not just the clutches that suck, its the entire shift linkage. And the dealership was behind on tune-ups and ****, and it took them 4 days to look at my car, I got a rental after almost 3 days. The entire thing was done within 6 days because I went in and talked to my friend who works at the dealership and he personally took care of everything. Gahhh. I hate my dealership. Lol.

My clutch/tranny is still goin strong after 2.5k with my turbo on. I dont powershift tho because i would like to keep my car running the way it is until i get the tranny work and stg2/3 clutch put in. I still drive my car hard, i just dont powershift. It has taken to the 224wtq nicely =P

Question for the people with 2.2s and have had stock clutch trouble...
How would you guys describe your driving? What I mean is, do you guys do completely normal driving or do you drive aggressively? I'm not trying to place blame or anything, it's just I have a 2.2, I drive it completely unaggressively (baby it actually) and am now curious about my stock clutch going out.

Yeah, look under the Forced Induction section. Im currently compiling a nice video from shots taken when i was in denver and here in boise. I made a quick quick video earlier this week when i was out on lunch with my buddy. Basically just showed how much a 2.2 w/ intake/exhaust can keep up with me. The link is in my "2.2 Turbo Finished" thread.
