my LS was $13k out the door, woulda been $1k more for power everything
as for the race...i raced what i believe to be an automatic scion tc in my auto LS with the mods below and won. stayed even through first gear, second gear i pulled 2 cars on him, n we stopped racing when i hit 3rd gear (about 70-75)

Scion tC with AEM CAI and TuRD exhaust 0-60: 7.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 15.7 seconds
http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Sp...&trimid=100971
Stock Cobalt LS 0-60: 7.87 seconds
1/4 mile: 16.18 seconds
The tC costs $4k more.
With $4k, that would give you a lot of bolt-ons and more.
I bet the tC wins on the low end, but as many have said, they can catch up and pass the tC. This is stock vs stock.
FYI: The Cobalt Sedan weighs 3200 not the coupe.

Sport Compact Car says the tC weighs almost 3000lbs, and I am betting the LS coupe is about the same if anything.

ok i dont know how many of you really race but guess what i do this day in and day out. the standard is not faster in the quartermile first is the traction, i have an auto that dosent spin so i jump to about a car ahead, then the gears first and second no way your catching me third is where the standard has the advantage. ive raced two stock cobalts and a g5 beat them all. just like above even when i go to third they are so far behind id say 2 cars that they cant pass me no on the road another story for top end. and the tc same thing off the line if you launch your car right you will have him there now we both had a person in the car to take pics. and i will have this guy to post and yes he can drive his car is a mazdaspeed protage so he knows how to launch but, anyway at the shift from first to second i jump about 10 feet ahead then into third at like 70 i could see him start to pull we raced to 90 because thats about the trap we were dead even with a photo finish.

if you jump any feet ahead during someones 1-2 shift all that means is they shift slow as ****
whats the highest you can rev the auto from a dead stop anyway? i know some guys take off from 0rpm or 1500 and you aren't gonna jump out ahead of a manual guy off the line if they're launching at the proper rpm, sorry.

About the weight, they are NOT all the same! It depends on the trim, you cant say that power windows and things don't add weight, because they do! This assumes base level with no options on that trim:
Cobalt LS 2730 lbs
Cobalt LT 2742 lbs
Cobalt SS 2815 lbs
Cobalt SS S/C 2925 lbs
Source: http://media.gm.com/us/chevrolet/en/...alt/index.html
FYI: Scion tC 2970 lbs
Note: The cobalt SS S/C is not on that page because it was deleted for 2008. My figure is from the 2007 Model. I keep a up to date excel spreadsheet on horsepower and weight for many cars so I can quickly compare.

i raced a manual one last week in my auto 2.2 with CAI and lost..it was on the freeway though, he SUCKS at launching and couldn't do better than a 16.6 so low 15's in the quarter is bullshit

It also dependson the year. The 08 Scion tC's are faster than the previous ones. My friend has one. He outruns me every single time. I have an automatic LS, he has a manual tC. From a dig or from a roll he always beats the crap outta me.

Haha I leave this thread for a few days and all the Scion bashing comes out, you 2.2 guys have been bashing on scion Tc's since day one, plain and simple you will lose stock to stock if the driver of the Tc has any ability to drive. You can flame me all you want, you can say youve beat one all you want but id like to see a video of all this so called Scion Tc beating, becuase I have not seen anyone show an eqaully modded race where the 2.2 beats the Tc. How many of you have any experience with a Tc? I bet almost none. I have worked on one and driven one. I have also modded and driven a LS. By far the Tc will beat it. Until any of you 2.2 guys can bring some proof to the table rather then numbers you find on the internet then please just be quiet. Just understand the motto, "you get what you pay for" If you wanted a car that was decently fast and built well you should have bought an SS/SC, if you wanted a car that was cheap reliable and had "ok" power for the money you picked up the right car. No im not bashing the 2.2, it definitly has pontential but many of the 2.2 guys have really overestimated it and what it can achieve witht he aftermarket today. Intake, header, exhaust will not net you gains of 40whp. Please note the key word in the last sentence "many" im not saying you are all this bad but many are. Once again im not bashing i would just like to see any of you provide proof of your bashing.

TC would deff win, they are what 161 hp stock or around? my wife has a TC i put an exhaust and and instake and it has some *****, stock for stock having a little experience driving both cars the TC would have the 2.2 pretty easily.
