Cold Air Intake Problems

I put a custom cold air intake on my 07 LT. I ran it about a .5 mile and the traction control disabled light came on and it blinked up service traction control. I continued out the road about another mile and my car went into "Power Reduction Mode." I put the stock intake back on and it all goes away. Any suggestions?

X2, for the last 5 years it is very well known these cars are touchy, Injen and K&N are the only ones that dont cause this. It is more than just a "tube and a filter"

I bought a tuned MAF adapter piece so that the sensor picked up the correct air flow across it.

Hmm, disconnect the battery during the install?

And buying an intake is a simple solution, i'd recommend the KN or Injen stay far far away from the Weapon R (made the mistake, it works but the fitment sucks a big one)

And TTR is a good company only heard good things about them

I tried that too. But listen to this. I tried bypassing the intake silencers using the same setup but with the stock filter housing. Works fine, and runs great. Ill put a pic up later.

You don't need a higher flow MAF. Try the stock MAF and check all of your connections for a leak.

This shouldn't be happening. even the EBay intake didn't do this.

The only difference between this and the intake i did was where the stock filter housing is i had the MAF adapter and a cone filter.

Your maf might be to close to your cone filter, most maf locations are at least a few (3-4) inches from the filter on a straight section, for an accurate reading.

Tube the maf is in needs to be the same inner diameter as it is stock. If you go bigger you need a tune.

The inner diameter and distance were both good. But i was using and oiled filter from Spectre. Also the MAF adapter was a Spectre 9405

mine just started saying service traction control. maybe my probles are a combination of things. and if his problem is like mine its not coding

Yours is not from the intake, check your evap system, bet its involved in that. I'd put my money on evap solinoid mine is shot but it threw a code and start up after filling up requires me to feather the throttle like its a carb'd engine that's cold.

And yes there is a correct way to put the maf in, and a wrong way.

OP I'd clean your maf and double check the orientation. Does your maf adapter change the intake tube size?
