Compression Test Help

Alright, so I'm trying to run a compression test on my motor.

I don't know if I'm just being a new guy or what but I can't get the gauge to show any readings. I'm using one that threads into the spark plug hole...

what am I doing wrong?

Heres how I have it hooked up:

Take all 4 plugs out at the same time, and hold the throttle wide open while you crank. Seems to be hooked up ok....maybe the guage is no good?

thats what I did do

I rented the tester from AutoZone and I think it was brand new because it still had a cover over the gauge face...I was thinkin maybe I did something wrong with the connection between the hose and gauge??

No it looks correct....see that little button below the guage?...make sure it isnt stuck..and make sure it is all connected nice and tight...no leaks.
