Couple performance and a Trifecttune question.

Hello all,

Ok first off I am just curious if the Trifecta tune is worth getting with minimal mods? I.E.

Eventually I am looking to get either a Megans Racing exhaust, GMPP sport, or Tsudo N1 catback exhaust system. Along with a CAI probably K&N, right now I just have the KN drop in. I have 18 inch Enkei rims, and Nitto tires.

So until I decide to SC or TC my balt would the Trifecta tune benefit me at all with just those mods I listed above? Has anyone got a tune with basic bolt ons like that? If so how much hp/tq gain did you get? What about MPG's? Sorry for the noob questions I am just curious about these tunes and thinking of ordering one here soon after I get my parts. Thanks for all the responses in advance!

Awesome, so I would assume it was worth it then? Cause if I am not mistaken isn't it like $265 for the tune plus cable shipped to you to transfer the tune from your laptop to your car? I am really debating wether or not a a couple more horse/torque is worth the $265 before I supercharge/tc my ride someday. Off hand do you know how much you gained specifically?

nop iv never dynod the car so idk but it was a decent amount IMO ... i paid like 225 but i had a local guy tune mine. try searching for a trifecta tuner close by its cheaper and you get the real data logging in instead of just havin vince send you the tune i believe after the first time its only about 50 or alil more to retune but you would have to ask him

I would suggest to get all bolt-ons done first before getting the tune unless you feel like wasting time and retuning after every major mod.

PS: I was NA tuned with the following mods;
Custom 2.5" mandrel-bent exhaust w/ magnaflow muffler
OBX Header/Downpipe w/ cat delete
Injen CAI
Ported/Poslished throttle body
#34 fuel injectors (stock on SS/SC)
plus a trans tune as well

Car was fun...then I got all my SC stuff done.

Now the car is a blast with 9 PSI and all the SC mods can be found in my build thread

Don't listen to heath, he has a G5. I had the full bolts ons with a tune on my 2.2 and got 168 whp and 157 tq. It was worth it but for the same price you could just boost it and not worry about all the smaller bolt ons.

Ah, $2xx for tune

boosting is not that cheap, especially if you dont half ass a build.

he is jsut a smart ass bolt ons are def. recommended on a 2.2 sc because of all the back pressure it can cause and idk how you get that boosting it is cheaper than bolt ons and a tune but ok

/This is exactly what I was debating it for. I figured I would have to get it retuned after every mod. Also in terms of the throttle body would a 2.4 tb, and 2.4 mani be good to have when I do eventually SC it? Or should I go with the 2.0 stuff? Its probably a stupid question but is there any point in upgrading my injectors to #34's now then as well. (can get the 34's free from my buddy. Prolly get the 2.4 stuff as well)

Also as far as trans goes after I get it tuned what can a safely run (HP wise) on my bone stock LS tranny. Sorry if these have been asked a million times, just figured I would ask while I have you all here.

Before I supercharged my 2.2 I had full bolt ons with the tune.It was a ok gain.I only noticed a bit more top end since the rev limit was moved to 7200 which helped with the 2.4 intake manifold. If you do decide to do a N/A "build" then def. get all bolt ons before the tune as Raiden stated. That way you only tune/datalog as little as possible. But if I could start over,I wouldnt of messed with it N/A.I would have rather saved for boost, which now im boosted on 11 psi .Boost is sooooooooooooo fun,so if you are good with saving money,I would recommend that route.

YES SIR!!!! boost is the best. You are only seeing 11 with the 2.9? I am seeing 10s with the stock pulley...

yup.I haz ported head, overly ported LSJ honed and extruded exhaust manifold, and full 2.5 exhaust except the o2 housing is still stock. The more you can flow on a sc car,the more youll loose boost.Your making more power off less boost because its more efficient in flow.im gonna drop to a 2.8 which im gonna assume will put me at 13 psi and call it a day till she blows or I save moeny b4 she blows to do a extensive build onher(turbo swap and fully forged)
