I did...if he's gonna swap out an engine, why not do it for a bigger one that can hold more power and do more of a custom job. Honestly, I wouldn't spend my money on jbp's engine cuz you can do that to yours for less. Unless what ur goin for is a 0 mile engine.

well the reason for the crate motor is so i dont run into any problems with my existing block since it will prob have 120000 miles on it when i do this...

Do not, I repeat, Do Not Buy a JBP engine. Their workmanship is absolutely not worth any of your money. Trust me, I learnt this the hard way, the very hard way.

listen to this man...he is wise beyond his years

and go to crate engine depot, buy a 2.2 crate engine and mod it...

anything else your looking at a complete rewire of the WHOLE car and a new tranny....so ya...stick with the same motor and just do what you want to it (aka turbo, supercharger, cams, nos...etc)

Build the stock motor. Pistons and rods. Then get a supercharger or turbocharger setup.

i am planning on turboing my car...but i would like to rebuild the motor since it has 112000 on it...it would really be pointless to run 8 lbs of boost on a motor that will blow up

what piston/rod setup should i run to produce max efficency

Just because it has higher mileage does not mean it would blow up. Your block is probably fine. Couldn't hurt to pull it and have it checked by a machine shop.

For a performance crate engine, there are none.

Find a used running 2.2 in an auto wreckers (try Morad Parts) and buy it. Then assemble all the parts needed for your desired HP goals and find a reputable machineshop or engine builder, someone with racing experience who only does the job 'the right way'.

The only time you need to worry about the block is if you want to sleeve it.

don't buy pistons until you have determined what size your bores will clean up at.

You need to see if you can still use a stock sized piston. I would personally not purchase anything until you tear down the motor. You won't need pistons until you hone.

But it's only stock. I don't know anyone selling modded 2.2 blocks as a crate engine.

You can ask just about anyone who's been around cars and built them and such...there's always going to be a part ur looking for or accidentally overlooked. Especially if you're completely tearing down an engine to bare block and rebuilding it from the ground up. What you really need to do before you begin any type of build like this is know what you have to spend. Unless you have a second car and this one can sit for quite a while. Because a complete tear down and rebuild is pricey and time consuming. On top of that, you might be wanting to make 500whp, and only be able to afford to build ur engine to hold 350.
