dealership installing gmpp exhaust

i want to purchase the sport performance gmpp exhaust for my 2.2. My question is the sport gmpp exhaust legal in NY. I plan on getting a intake as well and am worried about emissions? Since the old exhaust as to get cut off near the rear axle, is it any good after that or is just junk? Should I have the dealership install the exhaust or should I just do it myself?

doing it yourself wont change anything if you have access to proper equipment and youll save a ton of $$$.For the emission issues or noise number in NY I really dont know.If you cut the old exhaust and you want to put it back on the car after you will have to take your car to a good exhaust shop and make it welded back in one piece.I dont think that is too much complicated.

It's just a cat back system. That won't effect your emmisions. If you change the cat, then you have to consider that problem.

i was just going to bring my car to the dealership and it installed but i want to take my old exhaust home with me afterwards. I don't think the old exhaust will fit in my trunk or in my car, i don't want to get my interior dirty from the old exhaust.. How big of a box does the gmpp exhaust come in? will it fit in my car?

I'm going to do my best to treat this as a serious question, because it really kindda sounds like you might be kidding.

The pipe will physically separate from the Cat, and then there are additional joints along the length of the pipe that can also be separately for the purpose of installation. With all the parts separated, it should actually fit just fine in your trunk.

If I may suggest, have a local shop install it. It will be so much cheaper. And yes, your warranty will be fine.

it wont do anything to your emissions like he said. i believe they are 50 state legal. why would you want to keep your old exhaust anyway?

does anyone know how much the dealership would charge to install a exhuast? plus they have to weld the tip on? Also is really necessary to unhook the negative battery cable when installing this exhaust?

all depends on what kind of a shop you take it to. We normally charge $78 an hour at our shop, but it all varies on exhaust systems. Should be a half hour job, tops!

Now, is that GM system stainless steel? would be a bummer to have to replace it in the next 3-4 years. Which one you doing? touring or sports system?

the system comes in pieces of course:

no need to unplug battery. It can be both clamped and welded. They send you clamps, but it will seal perfectly and flow a little better welded. I work at an exhaust shop, if you lived here, i'd have them weld it for you for dirt cheap.

hey kemo, where in MN?

I'm planning on the Sport GMPP cat-back as my next mod.

I live in northern Minneapolis. I guess you could pm me with where you work and how much it would be!
