doez it bolt on or not??
i'm confused, everytime i searh for a header for my 2.2L, i come across pascetter brand .............. so i was looking to buy one. i emailed a guy from COBALT-ADDICTION about downpipes and the pacesetter which are offer on the website...... he said that COBALTS dont have a direct bolt on header yet, and that only the GMPP Honed Manifold would be the only one that fit perfect.
MY QUESTION IS, DOEZ THE PACESETTER BOLT ON WITH A PERFECT FIT OR NOT, AND WHY WOULD THEY SELL THEM 2 COBALT OWNERS IF THEY DONT FIT???????

no it does not bolt on
your stock downpipe needs to be cut just before the cat and the extension piece welded on...
and before anyone says anything, no it cannot be clamped on.
thats just the way the header is made, its slightly longer than the OEM manifold so it simply cannot bolt to the downpipe.
so basically if you wanna get the Pacesetter you may as well get a custom exhaust from the header back while you're at it.

The GMPP manifold is not a true header. It is an extrude honed or ported Cast iron manifold. Same as the one on your car just bigger holes. That is all. Anyone with a decent dremel and a weekend free could do the same thing. But yes the GMPP unit is a DIRECT BOLT ON for the cobalts.

I have made a sticky thread in this very area listing for you all the manufacturers of headers for our car. There are a lot more then just pacesetting and GMPP.
The rest of the information is correct however. You will need to do some cutting and welding. However, any exhaust shop can do that for you quick and relatively cheap.
A "shorty" header is a direct bolt on. Hahn makes one that is in fact a direct bolt on for you.

Simplest way is to look at the back of your engine and look where the exhaust manifold is. If theres a "gap" between the heat shield you don't have air injection. But seeing as you just bought an 06....you probly have it

if i have air injection and cant use aftermarket... i guess that eliminates the gm manifold right?

think this would work on an air injected manafold? i got a good amount of metal working experence...what would i make bigger?

Actually, it's pretty involved. It required a different mounting flange. The manifold flange is normally flat. On the air injected models, the flange has recessed passages that allow fresh air to be injected into the head without mixing with the exhaust gas inside the manifold itself. Not a simple thing. It easier to see it then for me explain it. So here is what it looks like:
