cant speak for the steering but SS/SC has a factory short shifter so the throws are much shorter.

and yes there is a night and day difference between a stock 2.2 and stock 2.0...there should be, it has almost double the HP

I drove an SC for the first time a little while ago and another one last week. With the first one, I was impressed with the whine and obviously it pulls harder than my 2.4... but I hate the clutch/first gear and visibility with that damn wing sucked. Second one was stock and you can barely hear the whine. I do, however, love the ground effects. Nice car mind you and I"m not envious since I had the opportunity to get both - but I'm happy with my 2.4.

i know the steering rack is different for the le5 suspension then the 2.2's (cause i just bought one) im sure it has a different steering ratio, which could make it feel tighter; aside from that I believe the rest is close to the same.

Question: Why did GM take the smaller engine and supercharge it instead of the bigger one (the 2.4 or 2.2) and make the 2.0 the eco-friendly LS? What are the advantages of supercharging a smaller engine?

So I'm sure this has been said/asked before, but o well. Theoretically if I put everything that was in a stock SS/SC in my 2.2, I should come out on top, no? I know it's not practical, but that's why its a theoretical question... just wondering.

It's a de-stroked 2.2L. De-stroking allows for a better top end and higher rev capability. Supercharging a small displacement engine is good for having power on demand for lightweight road course vehicles (Mini Cooper S, Aerial Atom, Lotus Exige S).

You could do it to a certain point until the internals failed. You'd want a lower compression piston for boosted applications too.

Why did they switch to turbo?

It's more popular, and better potential for power gain.

As well as the expiry of the Eaton contract, and LSJ no longer meeting emissions.
