I was wondering this question myself. I couldnt justify spending 250 dollars on an intake that is basically the same thing as one on ebay thats 70 dollars. Only difference there could possibly be would be as stated above, the filter. Thanks for the info looks like im going with the cheap route on this one.
But one more thing...does the ebay intake have the proper hookups for the MAF sensor? Just to make sure that it wont throw any codes.

Coolness! So why does noone buy these? I just cant see the justification for paying for an AEM or Fujita when there are basically the same exact intake for half the price. Is it just for the name?

well most people like the security of have a metal badge that says k&n or injen on it, some just like to buy name brand stuff so yes it is just for the name and history of the companies provideing the world with quality products. but pipe is pipe and the only difference is a badge and good filter. (damn that was a redundant reply)

I'm curious as well. I just bought one for my 2.2, so where should I look for a different filter? Are all filters for intake universal? The filter on the intake now is called a "Blitz".

the reason to get an AEM or a K&N, Fujita, Injen...etc... is because they are fit to your car not only pipe fitting wise but performance and MAF wise. if you just slap a filter on your car sure it might be louder and you might get more air, more than likely you wont. at least these filters get cold air unlike the airbox mod. the biggest thing is how your MAF reads the air that goes past it. you can be getting more air and your MAF may not read it that way and actually slow you down. companies engineer their intakes to make the air flow past the MAF exactly how it should, when you slap a cone filter on there the air spins around and is not a straight shot past the MAF, so it doesn't really help.
if you can find a cheap set of pipe and add a good filter and actually see performance gains let me know and i will jump on the ebay band wagon, but until then ill stick with my K&N drop in and keep my performance!

Well, like I said, I bought the JDM one and I recently made friends with someone that has access to a dyno. I'll test it out pre and post-intake, and then pre and post-filter change.

ahhh... ignorance is bliss!
Lets see if we can explain things better for ya buddy!
The JDM EBAY intake is an AEM KNOCK-OFF.. same exact piping diameters, bends, and MAF location!! That is for the 2.2/2.4 guys!
The JDM EBAY intake for the SC cars is just the lower section of pipe. It includes the MAF sensor location and replaces the ENITRE AIR BOX with a pipe and filter that is the same as the other "cold air" replacement pieces.
So there ya go pal! It's been put on a 2.4 sedan here in AZ and works AMAZINGLY well compared to the others out there!

Okay, I'm sold. Although I'd also like to go with well-known companies and trust the brand names, you can't beat best-for-the buck stuff. Besides, I wouldn't really put decals in my car even if they were from the best companies out there.

Well, got the JDM e-bay intake installed this weekend. Looks and sounds great with noticable power gains and gives it that little rumble. I'm impressed. The MAF fit well, and no CELs. I'll post pics soon.

The guy I got mine from isn't in business anymore. After I bought my intake, his e-bay status went to "no longer a registered user". I'm glad the intake worked, I don't know how I'd return it. Anyway, I've seen someone else selling it on there too. If you want to look at more, just type in "cobalt intake".
e-Bay also has jdm lowering springs, I wonder how good they are.

They arent always around...you have to just look and hope that there is one there. I think i have seen maybe 5 total for auction. Anyway if you want an ebay one just give it time and one will show up
DONT BUY EBAY SPRINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they are not made for our cars and can potentially be dangerous to yourself and others on the roads if you install them.

i got one and im getting a cel for running too rich. btw i used a k&n filter. looks like the pipe is smaller. i cut the restricted opening but still getting the cel for running rich. conclusion pipe is too small.
