Ya, i reset the code with the battery twice, threw it again. went to shucks...and i got the same lean code as 06blackbalt....Could this be from a shitty filter?? Also, on my way home today (drove 60 miles back from a friends place) I noticed when i was coasting at freeway speed it was idling and bouncing around 500-1k rpms...isnt that way low and why is it bouncing. Could this be cause i am lean?? How do we fix this??

This is to funny, I put 30 miles on my car today and it threw a code so my check engine light is now on.Almost 2 years and never a code so it has something to do with putting this CAI on. One thing I do know,if its the same lean code as everyone else seem to get it has to be some type of vacum leak. I went through the same thing with my trans am I had and throwing a lean code, took months to track down and it ended up being a vacum leak in the intake after the MAF. With this cobalt CAI it has to be leaking around where that sensor goes into the pipe,I did check it and tighting everything down so we'll see.

I got mine used. it didn't come with the hose that goes to the valve cover. I installed the intake and drove it to AutoZone without a hose and still didn't get a code. I guess I'm lucky (knock on wood)

I have a small question, and i know the answer on the chevy website but i really don't understand it... if i put an intake, headers, exhuast, rims, lights, and tint on my car will it completely void the warrenty or do they just mean my new parts aren't covered under the warrenty?

I would rather spend a little extra money for something that is a good brand than save 50 bucks on a piece of junk made by some little kid for 12 cents an hour!

in other words, it's to ensure that GM (or any car maker) doesn't void your warranty because you used a Fram as opposed to AC Delco oil filter. it's not in place to protect your right to modify a car.

ya, but for me this is just until I get a turbo set up witha new intake, so i didnt want to spend 200+ for one that I only spent 20$ for mine...now all i need is a filter. I will do some checking to see if I can find out if there is a leak tonight.....pressure test time!!!
You are actually incorrect. This law was just recently changed so that any modd you add to your car (replacing an existing part in normal maintinance or customizing) has to be the proven cause of the failure...It was set in place so that those of us wishing to replace the rims on our car dont have to deal with the dealer voiding the warranty on our stereo or something of the like. You can customize what you want, and that specific part will not be under warranty, but in order to void the warranty somewhere else, they must prove it was your new part's fault.
that's not a new law, but it's really there to protect the consumer where consumables are used.

but if you installd a part that wasn't even close, it's not going to help.
i'm just saying that you shouldn't modify if you're not willing to take ANY risk

Heh..just take the part off before you go to the dealer..if its a intake.
Im PRETTY sure if you buy everything from GMPP AND have a dealer install it (GM specified) it wont void your warranty..or atleast thats what the mechanic told me when they were putting my wing on.

I installed the ebay CAI with no problems about 1,000 miles ago, it did me pretty good. those pipe clamps are pieces of ****, I had to put mine own on. I tightened them down really really well, and the MAF is in there without the seal, I have no CEL yet. I used the air filter they sent me too, which was a cotton-dry flow. Remember too make sure your MAF sensor is installed the right direction. If it's dirty, clean it off with a super small shot of brake cleaner. But hey, I'm lucky I guess. I talked to the parts guy here at my chevy dealership - he said if GM installs GMPP parts, they're designed to last as long as the car does, and won't void your warranty (lord knows GM mech don't ever make mistakes do they).
Sorry I'm a little bitter - one gm tech said getting warranty work was like playing a slot machine
and the other one took 6 days to day a "2" day job, and ended up putting my tranny back together wrong anyways.

I tried flopping my maf around, the screw holes didnt line up, so thats not it. I cleaned it, not sure if that helps yet haha. I am going to replace the filter and tighten ALL the fittings on it. Hopefully that helps!!
Just ordered the AEM online,...will see it in a few days...will let you all know if this helps. Since i have to take the head light apart to get to it anyways, ill do a pressure test then and tell you all the results!!

good luck, once more i strongly recoment the ebay ntake with a AEm filter, have gone the custom route, i didnt lke it, i bought a GMPP, still no good, now with the ebay one, its alot better, especially in the cold, only thing is that like all other intake, when it rains, the water drop in from above from when i rolls of the headlight and hood, ait drips down thru the crack, but nothn to worry about, the filter would have to be submerged to really worry about anything
