Engine feels like its going to stall
Today i turned on my engine and was sitting their in my driveway for a few moments waiting for the windows to defog. During that time The car felt jerky not like its normal self i looked at the RPMS which were hovering around 800-1000 the needle was randomly spurt up to a higher number then sink back down never going over 1000 RPMS though this happens whenever my Cobalt is sitting still any suggestions?

...the needle never went over 1000rpms? and what do you mean shot up...like..shot up from 800rpm to 1000rpm, or shot up from 800rpm to 1600rpm.
Its normal for the car to idle over 1000rpms on a cold start. Its the engine trying to warm up the coolant, oil, and cat converter... once your coolant hits like 150* it should be at a normal 700rpm (approx.) idle

In addition to that the rpm guages arent always correct, mine is actually about 75-50 off(not really enough to care about) and peaks being 100 off at redline.

if you had your defroster on, which means the ac compressor was on then it could just be that. i know my car would do that at idle with the ac on, took it to the dealer and there is a reflash for that. took care of it.
