Exhaust piping size?

Right now my exhaust piping is either 2.25 or 2.5(I cant remember, its customs bent). It sounds pretty good(Magnaflow resonator to a OBX 3 inch in muffler) but has a tiny bit of rasp until about 4300rpm.If I do 3 inch piping, would that help get rid of the rasp at all, stay the same or help eliminate it.I'm gonna upgrade the piping to 3 inch anyways.I was just curious on your thoughts. Thanks in advance
Steve

You could look at my sticky in the general section. There is an article at the top and I didn't read all the way through it may be some help.

My current tip is 5 inch I like em big as well I'm gonna keep my muffler because it's 3 inch inlet and core.Just the catback piping is what I'm worried about here.

Maybe I'll swap to 3 inch from the magnaflow back to the muffler and add another resonator right before the muffler to tone it down a bit.hmmm decisions.

Cats staying off.I gained a lot from it being removed.I think I'm pretty set on doing 3 inch from the magnaflow resonator to the muffler with a added 12 inch resonator. It's not a whole lot of rasp in it.just a tiny bit in the mid range RPM's.Thanks for the advice.

Well if you gained more power can't knock you for leaving it off. But the resonator should really help if not eliminate the rasp all together. Btw how much did you gain by leaving the cat off?

I can't really give you a dyno comparison.Hell I was NA when it got pulled off but they normally say around 10 hp difference. All I know is exact same track conditions I went from a 15.65(with cat NA) to a 15.40(no cat NA).I felt it on the butt dyno as well.I'm hoping a small resonator and 3 inch piping will help.If not,I'll deal with it lol.

My fastest ET to date is 13.7 @ 101 mph(2 psi boost leak and a "okay" tune and a bad H/E pump)Now everythings running much much better

Damn if you gained .25 at the track sounds like it was well worth it.

These were consistent times as well on both NA runs. Was running 15.6's all night with cat NA.
Then was running 15.4's all night no cat NA.Thats why I stand by these times. If it was just one time on each run then I'd be more iffy on it but I def. felt alot more top end when I pulled it off.I've never had a cat SC so couldn't say the difference with a FI car.

I love when people call me a ricer hilarious.

true. but even then its as simple as chopping off a old flange and welding on a new one
