Exhaust Question
Ok so I have a couple ideas I'd like to run by you.
A little back ground, I eventually want to go turbo, but as I'm in my last year of undergraduate and looking at graduate school I'll be rather un-rich for a while still. But I'm starting get my parts list together and will be getting items as I have the cash. That said I don't want to be doing things twice.
So my questions are:
1> If I put a turbo short exhaust header on and run a custom downpipe, high flow cat, custom cat back and high flow muffler will I even enjoy driving my car? I know the short exhaust header will shift my power band up and with the 2.4 mani I'm already shifted up. I'd like to do this so that I'm not looking at 2 headers when I in the end need only one.
2> Since I'd rather not install 2 seperate exhausts is it possible to do the above item and install a full 3" exhaust except for say the downpipe at only 2.25" so that I retain some back pressure for NA driving and then when I get the turbo only have to make a new downpipe from the turbo to the cat?
If doing both of the above will I end up with a fart can sound since my muffler (I'm thinking borla) will be a 3" inlet and will not have the proper pressure to really push a 3"? I don't want it to should like scheisse for a year or however long it takes to assemble the parts.
Sorry if I'm kind of all over the place on this, but it's as assembled as my thoughs get at this point. Thanks for any help you can offer!
