Fastest 2.2L?

Hey guys,
I was wondering what would be the fastest 2.2L car with all mods except Turbo or supercharger?
Basically, how much HP/torque do you estimate to have and what did you do?

honestly no one i know of has really built up their 2.2 cept halfcent... you cant expect much cuz you can only do so much. full internals, valvetrain, head work, full boltons with weight reduction. better off going F/I IMO. good luck

Half cent is slower then his inital stock setup. Lower compression pistons = less power. I can only imagine his gas mileage sufferes greatly.

yeah, he has a lot of stuff done. fully built bottom end, patriot stage 2 head, all bolt ons and a hell of an aggressive tune. Hes building a turbo LSJ and going to run crazy amounts of boost too.

to my knowledge, Dan and I are up there, maybe one of my other buddies out in AZ? (AllTheDude is his board ID on my site)

IonNinja will be up there once he gets his act together I have a lot of faith in that setup though (similar to mine actually)

There's a few out there still working out things too that should be making passes in the coming weeks/months (mainly Ions)

I recently fixed a few things and picked up new race tires, plan to make more passes soon here.

Dan how's everything on your end? haven't heard from you in a while dude

Things have been a PITA...but as of now, had the entire motor stripped down to the crank and did a complete evaluation of what broke and what didn't. From what was seen/checked in the engine, the only damage was the pistons, piston rings. Nothing else was damaged thankfully, now the next step for me is to decided what kind of internals I'm going to upgrade with. I don't know exactly what compression would be good to run with the Garrett/Hahn turbo kit...if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

After that, there's the issue of getting the roll cage in the car. Still haven't done it because A. too busy and B. checking out all the places here in town that would do it takes a while. I've finally have chose a place that is very well known for making roll cages and has been featured in many magazines (Victory Circle).

Aside from all of this, I have started buying some of the parts to the 1000hp from the build book. While the engine is being built, I'll be taking the engine that went boom and do a full build up as seen above. Once the engine is done, boom, swap it out and go racing. I'll be selling the other engine once the race engine is in.

for a while with the old exhaust setup I was running consistent 14.4's at 99.XX last november I think? got used to the car and was running that on street tires and then started working on different settings and exhaust setup changed. unfortunately I stretched two headbolts and developed a leaking head gasket into #4. took it to the track anyway with some redlines I build/race with and still was running 14.5 @ 98 bogging really bad between shifts (beat one of the redlines I helped build up too haha).

I've since changed the head gasket, cleaned everything up and inspected it, altered cam timing again, swapped out bad sensors, etc. she drives worlds better now off the bottle and on it forget it lol, the car was about useless on the street under nitrous for a while until I changed a few things yet again. the biggest bitch about this car is it's very difficult to launch from a stop consistently. I'm actually starting to focus more toward autox and road courses as things progress.

as soon as the weather lets up on a friday I'm going to try and make some runs, but with my new son and the stuff I have going on for the site/club it's not really priority, I have a lot of stuff ot finish before nopi as it is lol.
