How much difference is there supposed to be? Maybe John found some old control arms for me or swapped that piece out because I bought those this year and there wasn't any noticeable difference. I didn't check it with calipers but everything installed and works fine.

its a very minor difference, but still a difference. I believe 1mm. People have been able to "mash" the bigger diameter shaft from the later fe5 into the earlier knuckle, but that is obviously not the proper way of doing things.

Oh alright. I never even noticed when I installed mine. I definitely didn't mash it as it slipped right in.

powell says you can open up the knuckle safely and it will work just fine.
