it's not that your preventing pre detonation or knock,it's the unforged internals can't handle the extra cylinder pressure.be easy.

I had a guy at work take a look at the piston and rod that let go in my motor. He builds race engines. His verdict was my motor let go due to detonation. It probably would have survived much longer. The rest of the cylinders wee in prefect shape.

Not saying its ok to run that much power without building. I think he will be ok if he's not ragging the **** out of the car.

when I did my engine build after being boosted for a year all of my internals looked just fine
and op you know that part underneath the oil cap comes off right? it looks much better without it on there.
