If you are gonna blow it up, make sure it is because of the increased power, not improper / lack of tuning.

yes i am going to blow it up. after a few tunes and mods. my goal is to have it tuned perfic with the smt7 and just hammer on it in till it pops but i will pop it at the local dragstrip doing 1/8 mile runs and see what happens then ill use my core engine and build it with my H-beam rods and forged pistons new head studs and gasket retune it and there we have it a vid of what will happen if you do this and that. yea i know im crazy bt who else will do this ??? no one in there right mind ps. if it holds to gether then we all will know first hand how much it will take and what will happen if someone else were to try this

Sounds good. I would love to see how much power the stock L61 can take before it starts to let go. Just becareful and expect the worst. If the rod lets go you are gonna end up buying a new block.

If you have a core engine, don't wait to build it until the first one blows. You should have your core built and wrapped in plastic, ready to go the instant you need it. Otherwise, you might as well just fix the engine you blow.

I think he meant just use the core of his existing engine.

I still dont under stand why people are flaming, espically the 2.2 people!! This is great that he has the ***** to do seomething that many people have shot down as not being possible at all. We all know that all of our engines are dam near the same so why doubt that all this **** is possible. All the best luck Yellow!

Its another case of; "he is doing something different, lets flame him guys!"

Yeah, the problem with that is that when he snaps a few rods, then his entire short block is worthless.

of course it's the ss.net way man. You should know that by now.

anyway... when's this new vid gonna be up. I put $20 on it having an exploding engine in it.

not flaming. but I don't think the 2.2 is gonna take 14psi of non-intercooled boost and uncontrolled fuel. But I've seen engines hold up to worse, so we shall see. (stock monte ss 305 h.o. V8... 250 shot 225,000 miles, made 3 runs then finally grenaded)

11.8, 11.65, 11.66 @115-117mph.... on slicks of course with 1.5-1.66 short times.

with the last motor (.60 over 350) with a 2-stage 400hp nitrous setup, it went 9:56 @144mph (was hitting off the limiter at the 1000' mark though) and then I got thrown outta the track for no cage, harness, well pretty much only had a helmet lol.

I just want it to be known that I give him all the kudos for doing the swap but I mostly concerned on how the car is running. Anyone to can supercharge or turbocharge anything but getting it to run correctly is the other part of the puzzle.

People now are too dependant on eprom flashes. Before the days of kpro, hptuners and ls1edit people actually did tune efi.

If you think about his setup, its really no different than an fpr and missing link combo. The stock fuel trim system and larger injectors take the place of the fpr but accomplish the same thing. Moving the map before the supercharger is doing the same as what a missing link does.
