Is there any differance from the 2.2l in the cobalt and the 2.2 in the cavalier.
I had the 40 series on my old cavalier and the muffler made for smaller engines is the 60 series.

I know a lot of guys that have put Flowmasters on there I4 Colorado.

They sound ok. But just call and ask flowmaster which one they recommend for the I4, I think they'll say the 50 series. It's on there site. They have one they designed for small engines.....you'll see just go check it out.

BUT!!! Contrary to popular belief, flowmaster is not the best performance muffler. Mufflers like Borla and magnaflow are. Ones with a "straight-through" design. Check out Borla ProXS

the 40 series is there oldest model, it's not for small engines, its for small V8's.

I bought a 40 series for my truck at autozone. It was cheap, I called flowmaster and the guy told me that the 40 series is there oldest model and there newer ones are a lot better. They have better technology now and there newer mufflers flow better than the older 40 series.

I have a borla on my truck, I would recommend borla or magnaflow.
