Garrett officially releases the full Alpha turbo kit!
In the email I recieved from Kyle today at Garrett, he told me that today, Garrett officially launched the retail sale of the Alpha kit, with a complete fuel tuning solution. Here's the picture:
Additional parts above the GT tuner kit include new injectors (39 lbs), a boost gauge, and the SCT LiveWire! reflash device with their E16a ECM flash pre-loaded. He told me the web site will start listing the kit starting Monday morning.
So now of course the question is, will SCT's tuning ability of the E16a be made available to their tuner shops for custom changes? I'm sure we will learn about that information very soon.

GOD YES! FINALLY!! im a little pissed it took so long, as about 2 months ago i had $4k saved, but i got impatient and bought struts, rims, springs, and just about everything else in my sig, so now im down to about $1700...gonna be $closer to $1000 after i get everything installed. So now, im probably not gonna have my turbo until the end of summer...im netting about $1000 per month
andnow a question just for halfcent. I know you dont like piggybacks as much as reflashes, and neither do i...but AEMs F/IC sounds like a better than stock way to tune your engine, whereas SCT would just re-do a stock tune. Something about the AEM F/IC having more load/RPM values to enter or something along those lines. maybe im wrong...but which do you think is a better tuning solution overall?
also...will they be able to delete the CARB cobalt's SAI with the canned tune? will it rewrite everything? or only replace the values that need to be changed?

This is freakin' awesome news!!
But is this kit gonna work for us auto 2.2's, or does SCT LiveWire not handle the TCM? Do they ever explicitly say anywhere that it is only compatible with the manual 2.2's? Hopefully they'll clear this up when they update the site on Monday.
And I was only a day or two away from breaking down and buying an Injen CAI... good thing this news came out when it did.

SCT's canned tune with the turbo kit will not have a TCM program included. However, SCT's "Advantage" tuning software does have the ability to tune the trans. SCT uses Advantage to make the tunes for GM cars. And tuner shops with Advantage will be able to modify not only the canned tunes sold with the Garrett kit, but also include Trans tuning.
Do what I'm going to do. Wait for the software release from SCT that includes the Cobalt. Then cooridinate with your local tuner shop for when they recieve the update. Then when you know tuning is available, that's when you go buy the kit.

I'm sure I have a question that others want to know as well....
For the tuning, will they be able to adjust the governor? Would really suck for some to have the kit installed, get the speed and then boom right at 105 shut down . I read on another thread that the racer package will not be availible for this. I was under the impression that it's this software that has the ability to do such things.
Also, not trying to sway things but this is good news for 2.2 guys wanting to go supercharged I'm sure. If it's possible, take the software for the turbo kit and throw on a supercharger.
