Garrett officially releases the full Alpha turbo kit!

o, i have no doubt that you'll be putting it on as soon as you can. but there's just always all these "once turbo comes out" or "as soon as someone comes out with a kit" kinda posts, and now it's out but i haven't heard of anyone getting it.

I'm sure most of the reasons pertain to not knowing a place that has the SCT software for this yet. That and being able to do custom tunes. Just a lot of questions regarding the kit that hasn't been addressed yet, but as soon as they are I'm sure you'll see some kits on the 2.2's.

I can't speak for anyone else but i am waiting for the full kit to come out rather than having a turbo and not being able to use it. I would be to temped to haul a$$ and take a chane of breaking something. So for now all i can do is wait...

Hopefully you have a dealer near you with SCT otherwise you're screwed. Even if they have SCT, they will have to have the new software available.

I don't understand your post. He could order from a dealer on the other side of the country if he wanted to. Everybody can ship stuff.
And what new software?
If you have a manual L61 from 2005-06, you have a complete kit. Go ahead and order up!

What I meant was an SCT dealer who will be able to do the flash. Like if you go to the dealer locater on their site, if you enter zip code 93312, closest one to me is Arizona and I'm in California. Maybe he has a dealer near him, that's great and all.
As for the new software, I was meaning the upgrade to the already existing software of SCT. I was going under the assumption that a new L61 tune would needed to be sent out to the dealers with SCT in order to get the flash to work.

Nope. There is no need to ship your ECM in for the flash. They provide you with a LiveWire! flash tuner as part of the kit with the software already installed.

Whoa wait...so you wouldn't have to have someone flash the car for you? With the software in the kit, you could hook it up to the car and flash it yourself?
If so, still sucks that we haven't heard an answer from SCT about being able to tune the car ourselves, like custom tunes...

well, i face a touch decision here, because i wanna go turbo, and i also like the 2.2 performance package with all the forged goodies. hmmm, prolly goin with the package before the f/i so i have a built engine to be able to hold more power. any suggestions? also, i mean 3400 is awesome, but for someone 19 who pays for the car, school, phone etc...lol 3400 cud take a LOOOOOOOONG TIME! Rather than 1300 for the re0build kit for the engine. but i'm deff stoked about this. FTW! ty halfcent.

install the kit, see if you like the power...if its still not enough, buy the internals package and increase your boost...otherwise you might end up wasting all the money on the performance package.

Agreed. There is no need to buy an engine build kit for this car if you want the Garrett turbo. Do the turbo first. Then if you want to build and an engine, go buy a core and build it on a stand. That way you can take your time, and your car isn't out of service while you work on it.

i actually have a 2.2 siting in my garage at my house. im not really doin anything with it. i picked it up at work. i came out of an 06 malibu. its just the bottom end with pistons and rods, crank. and the head has all the stock parts in it. no intake or exhasut manifolds. i think the only thing wrong with is that cylinder #3 has i slightly bent connecting rod. its had right around thirty thousand miles on it. its yours if you want it. matter of fact if anyones does they can take it!
