As long as your 2.2 doesn't have the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system the extrude-honed manifold will bolt right in. I've put them on 2.2 and 2.4 engines.
If you have AIR it has a separate hose attached to the air filter box and the exhaust manifold is welded together as opposed to a casting. There are threads about this in the 2.2 section.

it won't hurt.
I'm not going to say it will help either. you will see less low end power and more up top. if that sounds good to you then go for it. I couldn't tell you how much of a gain to expect, but don't plan on any miracles.

The down pipe on the 2.2 is very small and restrictive as is the whole exhaust system. The exhaust side is where the 2.2 will see the biggest gains.
I would recomend going with the manifold, a nice CA or SS down pipe and the GMPP catback. This combo should net yu approx. 15 to 25 hp according to dyno results I've seen.
If you get a used manifold and SS downpipe you should expect to drop around $600 or a little more to re-do the whole exhaust.

instead of getting a gmpp manifold I took a ss/sc manifold and ported it with a dremel. Figure it couldnt hurt anything and maybe flow a little better. Just bolted it up a few days ago with a ss/sc downpipe. A catback is still in the works though

Blue, I now its kinda hard to believe but its true. That stock 2.2 exhaust is very restrictive and opening it up has shown dyno numbers of up to 25hp gains oer stock in the past.
Yes its that restrictive. Also as a result of you doing this your gas mileage will increase as well. I had my old 2004 Cavalier getting around 42 mpg on the highway with the cruise set.

Meh, it runs good enough for me the way it is. I'm not concerned about performance, and I certainly don't want it loud. Sounds crappy enough in stock form.

There are a lot of people who think that the GMPP manifold is the ****. I was one of those people untill I came across this thread.

But in reality it doesn't do anything unless you replace the dp. And for the 25 CFM increase it is not worth it unless you run at least a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust.
Its not even a good upgrade in with the GMPP cat-back systems. The GMPP cat-back systems flow between 350-400 CFM. That is less then the stock lsj manifold.

I have a couple of things to say here. First off my rant for Blue, you make no since. If you did not care about power why did you tell him not to expect much but noise? Then you admit you really do not know much about what you are talking about. It is people like you that mislead people on this site, basicly what I am saying here is if you do not know what you are talking about do not pretend to. That is what you just did, and it is really no big deal, but just anoyied me for some reason. End Rant
Second, I have the GMPP manifold on my SS/SC, and I am not sure how big of a differance it will make for a 2.2, but made quite a bit of diferance for my 2.0. It does flow alot better than just a 2.0 stock manifold, and adds quite a bit to the sound to. Gives you a kind of crackle and pop when you let off the gas that sounds really cool IMO.
Third, I am having my CA 2.5" DP put on soon, and will have an SS/SC stock downpipe that I may be willing to sale if one of you 2.2 guys want it. My question is for gtxsport11, how much did you pay for your used SS/SC downpipe, and do you consider it a fair price? When I sell mine it will only have around 3000 miles on it so it is still fairly new.

On a 2.2 I doubt that you will see a difference from the GMPP manifold and the stock LSJ. I picked up an LSJ for $50. Don't think the GMPP would be worth the $200 premium.

Personally, I can see getting an LSJ but I wouldn't pay for the E/H manifold. I don't think the little bit of extra flow the E/H would pass would be worth the money on a mostly stock 2.2.
What does the GM perf mani cost? Somewhere around $250? I bet you can get a used LSJ for $50 or so.
****, I'd sell you mine, but I don't have headers yet.
Just my humble opinion.
