GM performance intake VS. K&N air intake... which is better?

I am looking to purchase a cold air intake but I know that GM offers the performance intake upgrade... my question is, which is better? GM or K&N? I know that GM will offer a warranty but I dont know which one offers more "power" and durability... anyone here have the GM high performance intake?

I wouldn't go with an aem. I've seen alot of people that got MAF problems from using it.

Personally I'd go with the gmpp. It'll have a warranty and it's not like there's that much difference in power over/under the other intakes. maybe 1-2 hp at the most.

so whats a good dry intake that won't throw cel's besides the gmpp? Is there a big difference between the injen and gmpp?

K&N FTW!!! No CEL, and it will work if you have SAI.... and yes it makes a pretty good differance.

K&N or Injen... K&N works great with the SAI on the 2006+ models. We always keep the K&N intakes in stock also.

i actually had a Weapon R dragon intake on my 2.2 cavi for 2 years and never had a problem with it, they are a very reputable brand, but they recently got into cobalt parts. Anywhos the question still stands.

I have had the GMPP one and went to an AEM...the GMPP is a decent piece but...I like my AEM better

i got an aem cai and it sounds awsome. you should go with that. I have had no problems with it.

I have the GMPP Short Ram Intake but I went one step further and replaced the GM Red Cone Filter with a AEM Dryflow filter (AEM Part#21-203DK) It will just barely fit.
The GMPP SRI gives you only 2 WHP so keep that in mind before you go spending $325
If you get a Cold Air Intake you'll get 7-8 WHP and that's what I wish I would have bought

gmpp CAI sounds reallyyy good..that, removal of resonator and some other mods(in sig) are all i have on my car, and people love the sound of it because it's quote:"Not ricey like most of the 4 bangers around here"-From a guy with a new Z06..rich **** lol
All i did exhaust wise(Sound) was remove resonator and put that intake on..sounds great!

I like the idea with the Bumper intake tube only I heard some people have gotten Check Engine Lights as a result of the Dryflow filter getting Damp.
Did you run into any problems after doing this Mod?

I had problems when i first put it on, which i thought holy hell i messed up my MAF, when actually it was a faulty one from the dealer, ever since they put a new one in and tuned it back, it drives much better and no problems since, don't go mudding with it on though...lol. I recommend you have it pointing DOWN sucking up cold air instead of pointing OUT of the bumper sucking in, because that can suck in water, gravity won't let it suck it UP.

I see... after reading everyones posts, i think i am going to get a K&N cai.. souds like people love it.. Lol will it void the warranty on my car though?

it will only void if its responsible for a problem you try to fix by warranty...and for the record i have a gmm CAI...i added some piping to it to make it CAI...and it runs better

I did the same thing only to break my GMPP intake, this is why i had to buy the AEM off of TSA performance...be careful doing that...
