What is different about the engine that I cant strap this on? Because I read that in the other thread and was like WTF, most people adding a turbo probably will know they have to upgrade the transmission.

and why the **** can't you turbo and auto. there are plenty of companies out there that can rebuild an auto tranny to hold boost. the only difference between you guys and us is that when we make too much power we just fry the clutch or lose 2nd, 4th, and reverse (right dan?)

True but it all comes down to Tuning...finding a way to tune properly can make or break you or just be a complete pain in the ass. Having a stock fast car helps cause it's already supported by the manufacturer and you can upgrade it by the manufacturer standards like how the Cobalt SS/SC has Upgrade Kits. Trust me, having support by your manufacturer is a VERY good thing.

It's about clearance, not power. Automatic transmissions take ALOT of space behind the motor, which gives less clearance compared to the manual.

yea i hear that, what u up to on sat? i'm goin to the xceedspeed bbq with ct but then we're coming back and finding somewhere to drink for his bday. And what kinda tools you guys got at your house, cuz my springs should be here next week.

and i didnt know it was clearence issues with the auto, but like stated above, custom setups can be built. and rippmods (www.rippmods.com) is thinking about doing a turbo system and they're looking for both autos and sticks for prototyping...so that can only mean one thing.

You might not need a compressor, the spring on our cars are not that taught when the car is off the wheels, you can most likely do it by hand, (or at least with someones help).

CT is leaving friday night and i'm going to just meet him at his house sat. morn and cruise over with him cuz he lives like 2 min away.

Spring compressors i can get from autozone on a loan. other than that i would prolly need a pry bar, socket set, and a hammer. but CT said he's got all the **** including air tools at his house so i might just drive down there and do em cuz i gotta pick em up from my buddy's house anyway

you need spring compressors for two reasons:

1) to stop the spring from shooting away when you take off the strut cover
2) when putting the new spring on so that you can reinstall the strut cover

On my friends cavalier you didn't need a compressor.

We did it by hand

Ok i really want a turbo for my 2.2L but i keep hearing that its not a good idea if you have an auto that you have to change the transmission out. Would i need to go with a manual setup? Get a better Auto transmission or just do what some say and just put on a tranny cooler? Also would this issue arise if wanting to put on a supercharger?

Don't believe people about changing transmissions and all the crap...your transmission will be fine. Get a tranny cooler and you'll be fine.

unless you've got Incredible Hulk strength I'm not sure how you plan on holding the spring down while putting the strut cover back on.

Another 16G turbo kit on a 2.2L car. No wonder why all of these cars and all this torque and no top end or decent mid-range.

Not a fan of the end tank design on that kit at all. YUCK!

WTH happened at 4.5K RPMS????? That curve looks sea sick.
