--help with oil pressure install--
I have a mechanical gauge and im just trying to figure out where to install the sender....
i have a 2.2 by the way
this is kinda the angle im looking at....
thats what my sender looks like.....
and i saw in another how-to the guy put his (I think) where this bolt is (under the red clip thing... sorry i dont have a drawing program or ide circle it)
Is that where its supposed to go??
if i had to guess i would think it would be down closer to the intake manifold!

I'm old school
As shown above, Any of the 4 plugs highlighted are oil pressure. The only one that isn't is the lower right plug, thats coolant.
Oil is supplied to the head through a restrictor, shown in the second picture.
You will need the proper size hex key and big pair of plyers. Don't hammer the key, just use the plyers and keep pulling harder and smoothly until it pops loose. It is SUPER tight.

This is the trans side of the engine. You do not have to remove the head. You don't have to remove much of anything really. Only what you need to reach the plugs. You do not need, or want, to remove the restrictor. The pressure and temperature will be the same. It only reduces the flow.

where is everyone getting their gauges at. I am looking to install oil pressure and water temp.
Halfcent for water temp could i remove the coolant plug or is there an easier way to do that.

for future ref, the "front" of the engine is where the belts are and the "back" or "trans" side of the engine is the other end of the crank where the transmission attaches. this is true independent and the engines layout on the car.
for example, in a vw where the engine is in theback, the belt is all the way back. stil the front of the engine.
.side issue, anyone done one in a 2.4? I am assuming that it is the same??

Remove plug at bottom of water pump. Use a 12mm x 1.5 Auto Meter #2277 adapter. If using a short sweep electric temp gauge (uses a single wire sender), then you must use a #2259 sender. If using a full sweep electric gauge (with a 2-wire sender), the included sender with the gauge will work. Sorry, no adapters available for the mechanical gauges.

Wouldn't using the one on the head show a lower pressure because of that restrictor?
The autometer instructions I think use the same one that the Garrett Turbo manual uses.

ok, I have a 2.0 and looks for those pluigs and CAN NOT FIND THEM!!! lol

I would think the same thing as well. I have not seen the installation instructions for the sender. I know people have mounted senders in the head location, but I don't know if was a pressure or temp sender. That would be a fine location for a temp sender.

There a large number of galley plugs all over the Ecotec block. I bet any one of them would work. I just looked at the block I have, I counted 5 plugs on one side alone.
