HELP: w/ install of USED Injen Intake
just bought a used Injen Intake locally from a guy. Quick question, even if it looks clean and ready to go, should I clean the MAF sensor and what not before installing it just in case?
Also, who has an opinion on whether a CAI or a SRI install is better? I don't really care so much about ease of installation, but rather what has a better effect.
I do have a GMPP performance exhaust on as well, if that changes anything.
Also I've been reading a lot and most people seem to change the Injen filter for an AEM dry flow, for not having to oil it and because the MAF sensor wont get messed up that way. Is this needed and is a hydroshield needed as well?

We can get the AEM filters, just PM us the part number and we can get you a price... Other wise here would be a new Injen filter (direct replacement):

i personally went with the SRI configuration. Once I get a couple more parts to install, I'll include the conversion to CAI in the agenda for that install day.
If you install as SRI, you should be able to have it in within 10 minutes.

With your intake you should have gotten 2 metal tubes, one which will be used for SRI application, another which is used to connect from that piece and lead down to make it CAI.
you don't NEED any extra parts.
The only reason I mentioned I'm waiting on a few parts is cause I personally prefer to do multiple things in one day. the day i installed my injen it was raining and i really wasn't up for finishing up the CAI portion.

oh hell yea i did! in my case though it's a little different. my balt was the first 07 to be tuned by Trifecta. and my car was completely stock. so the gains i felt from my first bolt-on mod(the injen) will not exactly be the gains you get on your ride not tuned.
Either way, I believe I have seen a dyno chart somewhere showing a good 6hp, 13ft/lb's to the wheels increase. Power increases were seen throughout the power band. But that really isn't the whole story behind CAI's as dyno's don't really simulate the environment of a road(air resistance at higher speeds etc). I'm probably not the best person to describe this but my understanding is that at speed the "charge" they get is increased, thereby translating into MORE power. I would assume charge would indicate denser and colder air.
To answer your question, YES i did feel a VERY nice gain. It wasn't just me that felt it either, every person that has driven the car or rode with me on a consistent basis also noticed the difference. Being able to chirp into second again w/ the BFG gForce KDW's felt good haha(hadn't really been able to since I had gotten the 18's and tires). Turbo Tech Racing is a supported vendor on here, and dealing with them was a breeze and just the way I like it, I click purchase and the product shows up. I didn't have to call them to investigate whether my package was sent or have to investigate to figure out what my packages tracking number was.
I'll be dyno'ing in the next few weeks with a dyno re-tune from trifecta, injen in CAI config, 2.4 mani being the only mod's to the car. I always liked the idea of being able to post up dyno examples of my cars progress, I'll finally have 3 dyno's to show off, stock, one w/ only tune, and one w/ tune/injen in cai config/2.4 mani.

This.
Op I have mine installed as SRI with a AEM dryflow filter and it's great.
I might be switching it over to a CAI next weekend though.
This is what you want OP for the AEM filter.

how much of an increase did you feel from the intake manifold swap? Pros and cons of it?
Did you get the tune before or after the other stuff you got?
How do you feel about the tune? Is there any way to go back to "factory settings" if need be?
sweet, let me know if you do the swtich and the difference you feel if you don't mind. Id be interested to see the difference. thanks a lot

decided to install it today with the oiled Injen filter and see how it does. Decided on the SRI for now. Love the throttle response, it totally makes the car fun to drive again!
