Hey wats up.
Does the 2.2l S10 and the 2.2l Cobalt have the same engine? I was listening to some exhaust clips of the cobalt and was wondering if my s10 2.2l would sound the same?

The S10 uses the LN2 motor, it's a 2.2 Overhead Valve Motor.
You have a 2.2 Dual Overhead Cam Motor.
If you don't know much about OHV motors, I'll explain the differences...
The LN2 OHV motor has 1 camshaft that is located in the block --- Your DOHC motor has 2 camshafts over the cylinder head.
The LN2 OHV motor has only 8 valves --- Your DOHC motor has 16 valves
Also, there were 2 variations of the LN2 motor that was in the J-Body (3rd Generation). From 95-97, they used a 2.2 OHV motor that had one big characteristic difference of having side feed injectors. In 98, they redesigned it and dubbed it the "2200 OHV" which changed over to top feed injectors on top of other differences.
2002 was the last year it was offered in a J-Body. They were only available in the Base Models and came with a 5 speed manual (95-99 had Isuzu Trannies, 2000-2002 had Getrag Trannies), 4-speed automatic (4T40E) and 3 speed automatic (3T40).
Hope this helps.
