Your right, but they also don't increase your gas milage, and should in fact decrease it. You must buy higher octane to avoid detonation which usually costs more.

You also have to tear down the motor, which the average person will not do.

Well not really, us with 2.2s have a huge shroud and 1 fan which means when the fan isn't on all the air flowing through the radiator has to go out through the fan...which in turn means less air flow through the radiator total due to backpressure with such a big shroud and small fan.

People with the 2.0's have a double fan setup...which is pretty nice....more passthrough ability when the fans are off as well as more air coming through when the fans are on....

and they're right it doesn't improve gas mileage or horsepower, however it does help longevity of your motor.....
