Probably did see 10k in that book but they also built those motors to ridiculous standards to be run strictly at the track. Nobody on here would go to the extremes they did just for a street car

I only rev to 7200 and with cams being so expensive, I don't plan to build it to rev super high

Why? Call comp directly and ask for Matt. They have blanks there and are cheaper than anyone else. You just gotta sweet talk em a little lol

I ordered GM blanks for GM performance. 80 bucks a piece. Local shop is custom grinding them to whatever I want 120 each. So all in all a set of cams made just for my car runs me 400. Beat that compcams. Besides they don't make an intake came for an 07

About the same price. Comp engineered the Eco performance cams for gm. And lsj exh cam works for intake side I believe. Why else would comp have 2.2 cams listed on their site?

Negative. Has something to do with the pickup for the cam sensor. I called them and it would be a custom grind setup which was kinda pricey. The exhaust side out of the other 2.2 will work just not intake side

So the consensus is 10k with head work, balance shafts removed , a lightened flywheel and lightweight pulley?

Also probably need beefier injectors to handle that engine speed

I think you should rev one out to 16,000 then you can start a new thread.

Edit:
I was mistaken in how I examined you can beat the 8192 limit for the 2.2; the method I was talking about only works on the lsj.

However, in looking at an 07 2.2 file last night, it gives you the option to disable any or all of the limiting methods (fuel cut, spark, etc)
So then what would be stopping you from reving higher? Not the computer. Unless of course there is a table or parameter in there that we can't see, which is entirely possible.

Dyno dropped off a little after 7300 but I'm using blower cams on a turbo motor. Haven't got around to changing them out.

I bounced off 10k. Never got it up that high till then but my limiter was set at 10k. I'd normally shift around 8500-9200 rpm... And the day Steve Zeller and I bounced it off 10k was the day the trans exploded and I put the car away with only 1500 miles on EVERYTHING! So now I'm parting it out, cutting my losses and leaving the ecotec game forever. However these engines will rev over 10k with the proper engine and tuning

High revving engines always sound sweet. Aggressive cams and higher compression usually help when it comes to revving out the motor. Also, make sure the bottom end is built suitably! Just my two cents

Well an AP1 is also a F20C which is not an ecotec, although Bisi's F22B1 rev's to 13k and has 415hp na.
