Hissing Sound

So today, it was 72 degrees out, so i had all the windows down in my 05 LS and I was heading up a small hill, and i was giving it some pretty good gas, going through first gear into second, its an automatic by the way, and when it got around the shift point i heard a hissing noise and then it went away when it shifted, ive heard of the SS/SC doing this, is this normal for my 2.2 ltr to do? What is it?! Thanks

Your engine can NEVER suck in too much air! IF thats where its coming from it means your poor car is starving for air! Get that poor thing the GMPP air intake STAT! As a by product of your car breathing better you will get more HP and better gas mileage!

But as for the hissing jus t check the mounting screws for now and make sure none are loose. You know where the lid connects to the base where the filter is.

I hope this helps and good luck!

come to think of it, ever since i got my oil changed last time, and they checked the air filter, my car has gotten really shitty gas mileage. im gonna check this tomorrow.

My auto tranny hisses from time to time with medium to heavy gas. It's normal. I wouldn't worry about it bro.

Its coming from your transmision? Well thats why! I just saw you have the B&M shift + right? it increases line presure so for you yes its normal for the transmisson to hiss. Your actualy hearing the fluid. But I don't think he has the B&M.

My B&M stays off unless I intend on racing, it's not related to that.

Hmmm, you must have something different then the Cavi guys do then cause I know theres hisses all of the time due to the increase in presure. I wonder why you guys transmission are making noise? Its weird cause I have an auto in my SS and I've never noticed any hissing from it.

Have you messed with the intake manifold or the fuel injectors? You might have a small leak some where.

my SS/SC hisses too, when it's -10 to -5 on the boost gauge, almost like it whistles on occasion--no idea what it is, but it's kind of annoying. possible boost leak? I have injen CAI.

I know what your talking about. The hissing sound.. Its coming from the intake. Its not bad at all. What ur hearing is the air being sucked in through the throttle body. I hear the same thing. Dont worry about it. I think it sounds cool myself cause it has that turbo sound to it.

massivematt knows what it is. I have the same thing on my 2.2 5 speed....u get up around say 3500 to 4000 rpm and it has a hiss like boost from a turbo, and when you shift, it goes away, but its not air i dont think. my car has always done it and i have an injen cold air now, still does it, but its not coming from there, its like a lil valve that opens or something lol, who cares, i dont have a CEL and my car still runs great, so isnt it a plus to have the cool turbo sound??? LOL
