Hks Device?
http://www.hksusa.com/categories/?id=1926
"The HKS SLD is an electronic device designed to eliminate a vehicle’s factory speed limiter. When competing on the drag strip or a circuit track, the factory speed limiter can hinder a vehicle’s performance. The HKS SLD is available in two versions: Type-1 is generally for vehicles equipped with a manual transmission and Type-2 is generally for vehicles with automatic transmissions."
Now does this work on the cobalt? And if it does then why can't we use something like this to raise our rev limiter and do other stuff. Or is this kind of a piggy back type thing where it just tricks the computer? Reason i ask if it even works is because someone on cardomain had one supposedly and i didn't think it would work but...i don't know for sure. Anyone heard of this?

I am basically wondering if something like this works why can't we use something like this to up our rev limiter. Not because i need to use one. To answer your question, until i get better tires, and a better suspension set up i don't need to up it.

Well, the governer is at 105mph, thats what the waste is. Not very often. Usually only do higher speeds like that once in a blue moon when i have the highway to myself. I am asking not just for this reason though, i also want to know (like i have been saying) if something like this works why cant someone make something like this except to make the rev limiter higher (for people with built internals who are waiting for tuning).

Hp tuners doesn't have tuning for the 2.2 (unless i missed something?). I was just wondering if these do in fact work (thank you for answering my question, even if it did take a few minutes of questioning my intension ) how do they work when other companies can't seem to mess with the computer and get it to up the rev limiter and tune them and such. Basically i am at a point where until tuning comes out i can't do anymore engine wise so i am just anxious for tuning to come out, and until it does i am wanting to know more about how the computer works and when i saw this i wondered why if they can infact up the the governer why can't they tune our cars. That is all

Hmm, i didn't know that. Then why were people with the 2.2 autos hesitant to use the turbo kit with the sct tuning? Couldn't they just use the the sct for engine and hp tuners for their transmission? And i thought they couldn't adjust the rev limiter, and that was why some of the 2.2 people with built internals were wanting tuneing. Someone had a patriot head and said with out tuning or to up the rev limiter it was a waste.

Well, thanks for the info D4. I personally don't care if it is hp tuners or not. I never even heard of them until i became a member of the forums here. I was used to hearing about superchips (not sure if they are the same thing or not). But what you are refering to are piggyback systems right?

Well, i am just learning things (see, i am new to the whole computer controls b.s.) so i figured if you can mess with one you can mess with the other (because i thought they were both controlled by the computer, aren't they?).

wait, so you're saying that an avea which has like 85 hp to the wheels can do 120? no chance in hell. not possible without nitrous or forced induction.

i think the governor is 115 not 105. ive been 123mph (gps reading) which is just about right with my wheels tires. my speedometer is 6% slow. 115*.06=6.8, 115+6.8=121.8. so its pretty much dead on. plus i was going downhill so that helps. i was supprised how smooth the ride was at that speed. my friend was sitting next to me and i told him we hit 123 and he was like when? he said it felt like 80-90. ha ha
