HKS Type-1 Turbo Timer Question
I've been looking into this new model HKS Turbo Timer Type-1 mainly because I need a TT plus I want the 0 -60 , 1/4 mile time, Speed & Rpm display.....................
http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=845
Now while reading the installation instructions I ran across this
It comes 3 extra wires that have to be spliced
Gray - Parking Brake
Brown - Digital Rpm Signal
Blue - Speed Sensor Wire
The Rpm signal must be a digital 5 volt. If using an analog 12 volt signal I would have to purchase part# 4299-RA004 to convert it
This is what I'm not sure about. Do they want me to tap into the stock tach on the instrument cluster or do I tap into the ICM (Orange or White) signal wires. I heard that those 2 wires on the ICM harness are a digital signal but are they 5v. digital?
I dont' know
Anyone who knows if the rpms signal wires coming off the ICM are digital 5v. or analog 12v.

Update
It's installed but with many problems.
First problem is the car only stays running for 10 sec. after I take out the key then shuts off. The ignition sounds like it's still in the "On" position because I can hear fuel going through the lines. The countdown goes on until 30 sec. has passed then you hear a click and the turbo timer powers off. Could be a defective unit I have.
Second problem is speed display does not work. I have the ECM pinouts and I'm sure I tapped the right wire only it displays O Kph all the time.
Third problem is this is only suppose to work with the parking brake engaged and mine works even with the parking brake down. I checked the connection to the light blue wire under the centre console and it was fine.
Rpm display works fine, battery volts display works, no problem with Gm passive lock and no C.E.L. or security light. Just some minor issues to solve.

I was thinking maybe it's wired wrong but I followed the instructions. Also if it were not wired correctly it would probably not even run for 10 sec.
Instead I would get a C.E.L. or the GM security light would have triggered.

My mistake
The fuel pump only stays on for about 5 sec. then shuts off
I tried going to 1 min. and 2 min. but it still only runs for 10 sec.
Found the speed signal wire and now it displays speed only it's off by 20 Kph. Rpm's are off by 200 but that's normal since I know the stock tach is off by 200 rpm's.
Tried to do the rpm and speed learn procedure in the instructions but still not perfect.

I double checked all the connectons and their fine. Can't figure out why it only runs 10 sec. and not 30 sec. but it's kinda useless right now.

If anyone is thinking of buying the Type-1 HKS TT because they want the Rpm, speed display, 0 - 60, 1/4 Mile Timer then this info is for you.
Rpm's are off by 200 rpm
Speed display is off by 20 Kph (I got the Metric Version)
I did the pulse learning procedure (Rpm and Speed Learn Mode) as per the instructions many times but it just does not help and remains unaccurate. I've already un-installed it out after only a week.
I'm going to let my friend with his Honda Civic install my HKS TT and see if it works accurately on his car. For now I'm stuck with a $99 paperweight turbo timer. Went to the local performance parts shop and bought myself a Blitz DCIV Turbo Timer (Simple 4 wire) and that will be installed this weekend.
