horrible exhaust leak

well, as you know i've always had leak problems since i've installed the pacesetter header.
today it got so bad, it sounds almost like i have an open header. i cant tell whether or not its coming from the manifold or the downpipe, because they are so close. its kinda black around one of the pipeson the manifold, but its miscolored all over anyways because of the paint. it doesnt help that the header is black anyways. lol. i'm praying its not the manifold. if i didnt just buy a 1000 dollar computer, i would buy the vibrant header/downpipe. :|

ok update -
i'm 90 percent sure that its coming from where the header connects to the downpipe. like i had my girlfriend come over and rev my car up slightly while i crawl under it(on ramps) and not only does it sound like thats where its coming from, but i put my hand right next to the header, before it connects to the downpipe, and i could feel air hitting my hand from that side. it sounds so bad! lol you can even smell the exhaust on that one side of my hand.

my question is, how do i fix it? its like a ball joint right there, but without the springs, tightened down really tight because i have a flexpipe after it. so i cant put a gasket in there, and i'm reluctant to weld it because yeah...its a header connected to the downpipe. i would have to cut the pipe in half just to get it out of i needed to.

yeah it goes header>ball joint thingy minus the springs welded onto the downpipe

Ok buy 2 flanges like the one in the pict get rid of the ball joint set up. and weld the one flange on the header and one one the down pipe get a gasket and bolt to gather.

Why did you keep the ball joint if you werent going to replace it with a flex pipe. That the whole reason to run a flex pipe to get rid of the ball joint because its junk.

well i went in today, i asked if they could put the flex pipe on there but thers no way it would fit with the cat there, they are the kind of people who if you ask to get a high flow cat, they laugh and point at a sign saying ' dont ask us to remove your catalytic converter, and we wont ask you to pay the 2500 dollar fine'. so they just tightened up the bolts and called it a day. sure it fixed it, but for how long?

I wouldn't blame them for not ******* with your cat. Most places don't, can't you just remove the ball joint with a new flange like stated above?

what a damn good idea...should've thought of that a long time ago since I was never crazy about that setup.

I am done with my exhaust though, no more BSing with it...
