How many bolton 2.2L Cobalts have killed k20 civic's with mods?
As you guys know, I have some very basic mods. I have the LE5 intake/tb combo, secondary cat delete, cheapo Cai, resonator delete and Magnaflow muffler on stock piping. Now before you guys say or call bs, I have video for proof of me stomping a mudhole in one with Cai, lt header and exhaust. I pretty much ripped him a new one. Do these cars really respond to these basic mods? I know the si cars have really good top end and I never expected it to turn out the way it did. I expected to maybe be a tie or at least be by his back bumper.

well the guy in the civic couldnt drive, or he lied about having a K20
a 2.2, with a tune, intake, intake mani, exhaust and whatever else bolted on shouldnt beat a k20 with a driver who could drive

Yes he wasn't that great of a driver but yes it was indeed a K20. I've never seen ANY base Honda 4cyl engine turn 8k+ rpms and this one clearly is doing so. You can even hear vtec kick in @ 6k rpm. Like I said, maybe I have a factory freak or something. All I know is I was expecting to be a dead tie or at least be @ his back bumper. Me pulling on him and holding that lead was never a thought in my mind, so yes, I am quite pleased.

LOL......he was kinda pissed but cool about it. He swore up and down I had nitrous or more mods than I do. Damn little car is a freak I tell ya! Last time we raced, he kicked my ass somewhat badly....about the same as I did him. Now if I could just find someone who can make the trans live through my abuse, I'll be good.

they typically make 180ish whp stock. i could see this with a stock k20 against a fully bolted and tuned base model. however all he needs is 1 bolt on and hes gone again. lol. i love the k20. my friend has a supercharged one thats about 350whp with meth on an m62. hes getting s/c cams and a valvetrain job now and it should be a beast that revs to 9-10k.

I have a 07 civic si With all the bolt ons, I know the guy can't drive for crap!! Not doubting your cobalt tho, cuz I have a 2.2 5 speed as well!!..but I know it won't come close to hanging with my SI! Good job on the kill!!...if I ever meet the driver of the SI I'm punching him in the vag, needs to go back to drivers Ed!!.....

those shifts sound way too quick/early to me...no way he is taking it to 8 grand that fast
also if he has those exhaust mods he needs a tune bad...IIRC those motors with a header on stock tune run dangerously lean
nvm you're talking about a k20a3

I dont really believe that car has a exhaust, it sounds like my si back when i only had intake, my SI screams now with header and exhaust! But whatever, even stock he should walk that cobalt!!...no pun intended!! Lol

Well there's a first time for everything. I'm gonna be racing another one that has a K&N Cai and he can drive really good. Will get it on video too.

I don't disagree with 155-160 whp. I expected to get beat both times. At about 100ish they do start to catch up and I'm only maybe a car in a half in front before that. I run high 14's consistently in the quarter. I'm also on E85 which gave me a few more ponies as well. Stock Type S's are 15 second cars.

This means you should be able to run low 14's in the quarter. I doubt that for sure because thats only marginally slower than myself. We dyno'ed my friends bone stock SI and got 189 hp at the wheels from a dynojet. I did a couple pulls with him from 2nd gear and beat him pretty bad. Then at the same speed I started in 3rd, he pulled a tad and then I just pulled away. Thats on a 2.2 with an mp26 2.8" pulley, stock exhaust and a tune. There's no way you actually did that with bolt ons.
And you can hear that he was short shifting and doesnt know how to drive either.
