I believe it lists for around $325, should be able to get it thru GMPartsDirect for $290-ish.

If I go the intake route, I will likely go with the GMPP. I know it's pricey, but I like OEM parts...

290, then it's probably something sick like 150 for the install...

Why in the hell would you pay someone to install a CAI? You can do it with a screwdriver and a wrench.

i know... but why would you buy a cai from gm for 290?? i'm guessing the people that get ripped off when they buy this are doing it strictly for warranty purposes, (othewise why not get an injen of aem for 220 shipped??) and will have it installed by the stealership.

if you're talking about the dryflow ones from AEM then they're just made differently than the oiled ones, mainly to be more MAF friendly. they work great, flow the same if not better, and filter the same if not better.

I won't have mine installed at a dealership.

My reason for buying a GM intake is simple: I'm not a big fan of aftermarket parts. I'd rather pay a little more for something factory-backed and have some piece of mind. To each his own.

it will most likely ONLY be factory backed if it's installed by a dealer... you'll have the same exact problems that anyone with any other intake would have... they'll try to figure out "how it was installed wrong", then you have to pay for repair, and you still paid too much for a "factory backed" intake that is not infact covered by your warrenty... besides, a cai will not hurt anything...

Doesn't matter- I don't want aftermarket stuff on my car. I've seen/heard/driven cars with Injens on them and they're not what I want for mine. I'm not sure about the 2.2 application, but just about every SS/SC I've seen with one has fitment issues.

the 2.2 shouldn't have any fitment issues... and as far as sound, do you think that the GM one would really be any different? i mean to each his own, it's your car... not trying to knock you or anything, but everyone knows it's a waste of money buying this kind of crap from the dealer...

I'm not interested in sound. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have no desire to make my car loud. I'm not trying to attract attention.

If I can get a couple more MPG and a couple more HP, that's great. Maybe to you that's a 'waste of money', but to me it isn't. I'm not a big aftermarket fan; never have been.

I'll buy the GMPP, you buy the Injen, and we'll both go home happy. Sound good?

i don't think a couple more mpg or hp are a waste of money at all... i only said sound because you said you have heard them and it wasn't for you.. i said it was a waste of money because you're paying at least 70-100 more for something that you can get that will do the same exact thing.. what i'm saying is there is zero benefit for getting a GM intake and installing it yourself...

Right. I've heard Injens, and on the N/A motors they're too loud for my tastes. They don't sound 'bad', but they're a little more than I'd want to hear on a daily basis. For the record, I'm not knocking anyone who has one. From the construction of the GMPP, it looks like it shouldn't be much louder than the stock intake. That makes it worth a little more IMO, and is a part of my reason for choosing it.

Like I said, to each his own.

If it helps at all...I have an injen short ram on my car (2.4) which will also fit the 2.2. I haven't had any fitment issues as far as the short ram goes but my car does sound like a pack of angry cows (not all the times only when you floor it and even then you can only really hear it when you're inside the car)

Never heard it described like that!

That's kind of what I'm trying to avoid. Most people don't mind it and that's fine- but I'd rather have something quieter.

there you go.....go down to post #5 and click on the vid labeled "leaving Fudd's"

That's what it sounds like on a 2.4, not sure how it would sound on a 2.2

Yeah, I definitely heard a "moo" there!

My guess is that the 2.2 and 2.4 would sound similar. The 2.2 MAY be a little 'deeper' at higher RPM's due to not having VVT, but overall I can't imagine they'd sound much different. I've driven PAZZ1101's 2.4 with the full Injen CAI and your short-ram actually seems louder inside. Don't get me wrong- I'm not saying they sound bad, I'm just not sure I'm comfy with that many decibels... we'll see.

Thanks for finding the vids!

trust me, if it sounded like that all the time, I'd rip the thing off in an instant. I even had my fiance drive the car past me to make sure it didn't sound like that on the outside...lol I hate the sound but can deal with it for short spurts

I said I wouldn't be able to handle it if it made the sound ALL the time, but since it doesn't, it doesn't bother me that much
