I smell burnt oil!

So for several months now I've been smelling burnt oil. I've not seen any spots on the block or head where its leaking. And I don't have smoke coming from the exhaust. But when I change my oil I am usually about a half to a whole quart low.

Any ideas on where to start looking?

I'm not overly concerned about it because I'm gonna drive it till it just won't go anymore. But I am getting a new ride and the cobalt will be gas saver/ride for when its raining. When its raining because I'm getting a new mustang gt and hopefully build it to around 600 ponies.

Thanks everyone!

First question, Are you catless? Second question (suggestion) check your valve cover gasket and spark plug o-rings. You may have a leak. I had one of my spark plug o-rings twist when I put my valve cover back on after painting it.

Catless, I think you're going to smell a little bit, but shouldn't be a heavy oil smell. Change plugs deff.

Pulled all four plugs today. They weren't black at the bottom. Looked more like they weren't burnt rather than oily. Didn't feel oily either. The electrodes on them were almost gone and the ones that were left were a dark red color. Looked like they're getting extremely hot in there.

Changed all four plugs today. One was pretty black and felt oily but wasn't "bad". The other three looked like they had been really hot. The electrodes were white. I got close to the exhaust and I can see a little smoke coming out. I stood up and couldn't see it so I know its not burning too bad.

Any ideas on what I should check?

If your spark plug was oily, that indicates that your burning it. How many miles do you have?

Itlk roll over to 129k today. I've always run Mobil 1 full synthetic. I've had it since it was at 93,888. Changed every 3500-4000 miles. Plugs were changed at 105,XXX. Then again at 128k.
