If you had 1800 - 2200 bucks to spend on your base 2.2...

What would one do with 1800-2200 bucks and wanted a little better performance but still 30+ mpg while driving sane on the highway..

The work will be done in a shop so that will probably limit alot of the money.. But i am just looking for ideas for when i get my nice check from a new job.

Just looking for ideas Thanks.

I have a base 2.2 ls 5 speed... If its not worth doing performance i may just look towards appearance and just do a basic CAI/Exhaust as far as performance goes..

if i had 1800-2k, you'd bet i'd get a nice body kit, a new paint job, rims or custom exhaust. I already have the tune for the 2.2 but its a good little boost for the cost, and it helps your mpg a little.

But will the 2200 cover the installation? Could you post the link to the kit that is cheap enough to afford the kit and installation under 2500? Thanks

I had a srt 4 and really enjoyed the turbo power it had... If it werent for the lack of feel of a sporty car i would have kept it...

you will get raped royally taking it to a shop. i would ask some local members if they could help you, will work out to be much better than taking it somewhere. install prices are insane.

but i would go with the basics, full exhaust and intake.

I am just wanting something to feel a little better than stock really... I am not too worried about making it fast or anything.. This is all for personal comfort.. I like to just tune around and make my car a little different than when i first got it..

I am saving up for one of the new camaros, redesign mustangs, challengers..

So i am not looking a fast quarter mile car.. Just something that has a nice "sporty" feel i plan on keeping this car for the next 8+ years because it gets great mileage.. I am just looking for something to give it a bit more of a sport feel.. I dont really wanna change the engine in any way

that being said, the biggest thing i would work on is suspension. will make it feel like a whole new car. some good springs (eibach is the best) or maybe coilovers would be a HUGE start. you could get a nice set of coilovers in your budget. the way the car will drive afterwards, you will swear it's a different car.

That sounds good

Do you think it would be achieveable to get the springs and a GMPP CAI in my price range? Installed

absolutely. install is going to kill you though. is there a reason why it specifically has to be done at a shop?

I am a full time student and work at Fedex from 2 - 8 in the morning and then i work on a clients website for a second job when ever i have any free time.. Other wise my time is spent with my wife or at school or studying... I just have no time to work on it or be with out the car for a significant amount of time..

Finding a shop usually assures that i get it back in a good amount of time and any problems they come across they usually are able to overcome quickly.

I would definitely get suspension as stated. The intake you can easily put in yourself, but Chevy dealers can install them for a shitload of money.

If I had 2200 to spend...

First I would convert my old style air to water intercooler to a air to air front mount. Then I would get bigger injectors (60-70 lbs. injectors) and a bigger ball bearing turbo for my Syclone. Then I would get a dyno tune. This would all come in around 2200. I would make about 150-200 more awhp and bring me to 700...and prolly in the 9s in the 1/4th

Either that or I would finish my basement for a movie room.

Ohh wait, you asked me if I had a 2.2 what would I do...well. If you don't have a nice set of wheels and tires that would be a nice mod. I personally would keep a 2.2 close to stock with some nice wheels and tires for a DD.

DO THE WORK YOURSELF! CAI, and full exhaust is VERY easy. Or if tools are the issue i am sure you know someone that could help you out there. If you are wanting it to feel more "fun" on the highway full exhaust and CAI and a decent stereo system. I just came back from a 35-40 mile highway cruise in mine and i didn't want it to end

Personaly, $2200 would be a waste on the car buying performance stuff without buying a turbo (and the turbo runs about $3500-4000).

Id just put it towards payin off your car.

I guess you could always do the Hackabuse method and put a 75 shot of NOS.
