Of course you learn the hardway because its either you didn't get them professionally installed or new adjustable caming gears, retainers ect.Whats so hard about spending a little extra to make the **** work properly? For a fact those 2 will need to do more then just put on cams or they will have a fucked up motor.

I already know you two had it professionally installed I am talking about area47 who ran into problems with the cams, for obvious reasons alone. In general cams wont **** up unless not professionally installed, at least new adjustable caming gears, retainers,so forth not to run into problems. With me I always play it safe with my car then risk having problems in the future.

a gm tech put mine in both times. the gm tech used the real tool to do the cams, not ******* zip ties.
what did i have to do in return? tune his car. woooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww
professional techs **** **** up all the time. most of the ******* clowns on here go off "hey i got stage 2 cams it's gotta be faster!!!!!!11111"
if half the people on here knew what they were talking about in the first place, they would be dangerous.

oh, cool. i've seen so many threads on mods gone wrong i though you may have had a story to share. i'm looking to do a serious N/A build with a 150 shot of juice and i'm not really interested in killing my car. so as i do my coil-overs, sway bars and brake conversion i'm collecting info vital to my engine build which will come after the suspension setup.

You said first off you learn the hardway with out even explaining what was your hardway, there for I assume you didn't install them correctly or you were figuring well the stock retainers and timing gears will be ok and then you ran into problems after that. Also the only way to tell is if the stage 1 or the stage 2 cams are even worth it,they have cams on they should at least be dyno testing it at least now,if they're that curious of finding out what they agin out of it.

and my problems are unsure of but i was with the "professional" mechanic watching/learning how to do it so I personally didnt **** **** up... when i did it myself with full valvetrain it was fine
if you want to rev past like 7.2K JBP and turbotech recommended me to go with better valvetrain (atleast but said just springs MAY be fine)

the mistake lies in trying to run a turbo grind on a supercharged motor.
im far from new to this game. im not running stock cams, so the stock valve train has to go.
stock cam gears are fine. are you going to spend 8 hours on a dyno to dial them in? or are you going to go off what someone else says will work?
newp.
i don't have the desire to tweak the cam gears for that long, and waste a valve cover gasket to gain 3 hp.
people make this out to be harder than it is.

we're pulling more power outta our engines **** gas mileage. if these guys want better mileage stop modding and go buy a prius for crying out loud. /rant
get at us when you get the idle worked out. i'd like to see some updated vids too, if you don't mind and don't forget to post up some in car pulls for us video ******.

just got off the phone with vince. I'm going to be the first person to have my car data logged with the tuner. He developed a data logger for the 2.2 cobalt's that is on the tuner in addition to the tune. he wants me to run the car with the data logger hooked up and, then he can see the #'s of the car and what the car is doing how much timing ect...... so he can adjust tunes easier

those are stage 1 cams. the one with intake lift .440 and exh lift .436 is stage 2. and then there are seperate grinds for turbo and blower applications.
the cams in your car, are stage 1.

okay here is the scoop. I called bates Engineering you know the ones who wrote the gm build book. i talked to Ray. for the cams i have (as we all call them stage 1 even though ray at B-E said there is no stages) i do not need up grade my valvetrain. BUT BUT there is a but, since the cams i have have a higher lift will shorten the life span of my springs. (stage 2) he recommends to get new springs cause the distance between each coil is lesser than 0.060 and may cause stacking.
from what i know. the idle will be very very choppy and you be lucky if it would stay running at all under a load.
