...im a little confused here. wouldnt the auto trans only make it worse BECAUSE of the torque converter? This being why DSG trannies are so awesome...its still clutchless, but has no power loss from a TQ cnverter.
You make it sound like two separate things.
Mind you, the tranny will definitely slow him down due to lacking a 5th gear, so the 3 forward gears are all taller than in an F23, but that shouldnt show on a dyno..only on track times.
just FYI, this isnt true. It was back in the day (and i mean as recent as late 90' and early 2000's), but GM fixed this issue. Mine restarded during a reflash...the tuner froze . I freaked out, called vince, asked if i needed a new PCM, and he said relax, just restart everyhhing, and explained.
I guess the ECMs these days have like..2 "slots" for tunes. The factory tune is in slot 1, and slot 2 is unused. When you (or GM) uploads a new tune, it loads to slot 2. Once the tune is fully uploaded, it takes the spot of slot one, and becomes the default tune, and slot 2 is erased.
It doesnt work exactly like i said, but thats the easiest way i could explain it.

Yeah, I loaded mine yesterday. You gotta be really careful when you do any kind of computer reflash. If you accidentally turn off the ignition, or if the battery goes out, you can totally screw your ecm. You will have to tow it to a dealership because it will not start, and they will void the warranty if they can see you messed with it. Then you have to pay a lot and your warranty will be toast.
Just something to think about, lol. I don't mean to worry anyone, just don't be careless.

um. they are two separate things that work together to transfer power.
the internals of a TC draw power to turn through the fluid then to lock it after a certain rpm is reached. then the clutches in the transmission slip and lock on the shaft. driving the pump, clutches, blah blah blah take more power to turn than a manual. hence why auto cars dyno lower than manuals.
people give me **** for my dyno numbers, and yet this is the exact same dyno i use.

Im not arguing, but this is how i understood autos for the last 3 years...so finding out they are different than i knew kinda throws me off
and no, i dont have any track times or dyno numbers. Maybe in the spring, but until then, all i have to go off of is my interceptor's bhp estimate
