Thumbs down Just to get an idea....

Okay lets say I am pissed at certain companies for taking so long on tuning applications.

If I start with the usual I/H/E, after that what other performance upgrades go into a N/A vehicle? Adjustable Cams? Can they go on with out tuning? Ported heads? Is there a reason to put them on a N/A vehicle? Changing compression, I think higher for N/A right? What else am I missing?

NO NOS!!!!!

I just want some options as far as performance goes for an N/A engine. I know a turbo setup would blow a N/A setup away but like I said just wanted to keep my options open incase SCT never comes out with what they promised.

do you mean adjustable cam gears? but anyways, without tuning cams wont do much if the car will even run, or make it run worse without tuning. very mild cams may be able to get away with it.

so pretty much intake, header, exhaust are the basics. porting could help. but without the tuning, best power adder would be wet nitrous but you dont want that. unless you want to go full standalone

I want the garrett kit but I am getting tired of waiting for SCT to come out with their tune. If I got that then the intake and header would then become worthless and the higher compression would hurt me. I just don't know what I want to do as of right now, I guess.

Not really for the engine, but you can try a short shifter, motor mounts, any little things that may not help the engine directly.

Because you guys are MAF based and not MAP based, your computer would be able to supply sufficient air and fuel mixtures with a mild camshaft profile change.

and for god sakes, you can use a piggyback unit...

I said it once...

And be grateful that someone wants to invest time into your application.

So if you don't want to use any other form of tuning, then quit your bitching and just wait.

You already KNOW the answer to your questions and you KNOW what the best thing for you to do...you just want someone to say what you want to hear and for someone to say what you can "get away with".

So there. End this thread cause you started the thread already knowing what to do...you just don't want to do it.

There are tons of platforms that cant tune the computer that came with the car. There are always ways to do it. You just need to experiment and try new things out. The quickest cars are alway the guys leading and not the guys following and coping what others are doing.

I will be picking up a Patriot Stage 2 head soon hopefully

gotta plan for the future

once there is a way to raise the rev limit I hope to be dropping cams into that head.

honestly, i wouldnt want to tune the stock computer. why try to make something that isnt built for boost, run boost? Celicacobalt is running into that problem right now.

Well...

You're talking about converting over to a MAP based computer system. Only way to do that is to run a full standalone unit.

I'm willing to bet he's having issues not because he isn't pressure based but because of his engines cam phasing causing a issue tuning properly.

I want some of those adjustable cams too.

You could stroke it. High compression psitons maybe. Will just have to wait for tuning like the rest of us.
