just installed cams.
I just had stage one comp cams installed in my car today and have maybe a couple issues. . . .
First my coolant usually shows a temperature of 190 degrees. But driving around this afternoon after having them installed its been displaying temperatures up to 220 - 225!! Why would cams cause overheating??
Also I have a check engine light. I knew somebody that installed them a long time ago that got a code too and he said that his was a misfire code. I havent had my code read yet but obviously i am concerned. . . . .
What do you guys think?
i just read the code and yea it was random misfire. . . .
I'm not too sure what to do about that. Maybe a tune will correct it?
As far as the coolant temp. goes. . . .
maybe i just need some cooling mods?

Have fun with the new power exiged. Did you do the install yourself? My friend and I put them in and it was a pretty satisfying install.

ive thrown codes with mine, but there are other reasons for that
i would suggest getting tuned as this will solve about every problem you may have AND get you all the extra power you have paid for

Well I did some cruising around last night. It seems that I will only get the code when I let it idle for a while, when it starts loping. Also I think I was just getting paranoid about the overheating. Once I get going the temps do go back to normal, but it seems like it does rise very quickly now. I havent heard of this happening with anybody else but who knows.
I've done some reading on the trifecta tune and it seems like for the most part you cant go wrong with it. . . Where do you go to order it?
I took it to a shop for the install. . . I'm not completely sure that i could do it by myself and honestly didn't really feel like the headaches that I knew it would bring, so it was worth it for me. I wouldn't mind helping out on an install with someone sometime though.

You can order the tune through Clear Image, a vendor on this site. Or, if there is a person near you that is a Trifecta dealer, you can have them tune you.
And it is definately the way to go. Check out the #'s in my sig.

i need some tractions, but with full bolts, a head shave, and stage 2 cams i am in the 14's
with some traction i should be way lower and ya'll with some practice and stg 1 im sure could get into the 14s as well

really? i'll have to hit him up thanks man.
I havent had a chance to really get on it yet because i want to break them in for a couple hundred miles. But it does make the exhaust sound much throatier and more like an inline 6!

can it be done by an EXTREMELY skilled person with FULL bolt ons, ALOT of practice, and some AWESOME track prep....probly, but not consistantly without camming it....or else mroe then one single person could ahve done it. Ive done it but it wasnt a great run, i can probly shave .2 off the 60ft with just some practice as where the other balt that has done it probly is at its best time (and only hitting 14s by .00x)
im not saying im the only one that can do it, just saying out of all the 2.2 drivers out there, only 2 n/a cobalts have hit 14s...ever

it may be the same motor, but in a different car that is a totally different weight and has the weight positioned differently therefor different weight transfer its not comparable.
its almost like comparing the ariel atom to an ss/sc...it doenst work that way
good times none the less...just not the same
