K&N Filter
Anybody installed a K&N drop-in filter in their 2.2L yet? I was just wondering if it threw the CEL light. Going to replace my factory filter with a K&N drop-in soon.

I've had my drop-in K&N in for about three weeks. No CEL or other problems as of yet. On the downside, the filter made hardly any difference in the car. Right as I'm letting out the clutch it feels more torquey but nothing above that and no MPG improvement. This is the fourth car I've bought one of these filters for and I never had one that gave so LITTLE improvement.

WOW.... I am buying the filter to help with fuel mileage too. I have K&N drop-in's in two of my other vehicles and noticed alittle HP gain. Fuel mileage in both of my other vehicles improved 4 to 5 mpg.

Well, if you get it, please post your results here. I'd be very interested in what yours gets.
In the five months I've had the car I usually get 34-35.5 MPG in mostly highway, relaxed driving. I was hoping to gain at least 2 MPG with the K&N but no such luck. I don't know if you've looked at the factory filter yet. It's not your normal OEM filter. Sort of like one of those 3M electro-static furnace filters. Maybe it's already low-restriction.

i got the K&N filter and i did the airbox mod. those two things together have alowed me to get 40 mpg on the highway and around 27 in the city if i grany it. I have noticed a bit increase in throttle response and a entire change in the sound of the car! I recomend this for anybody who dosent have 200 dollars for an intake or somebody who needs to keep the car relitivly stock!

drop in filter isn't meant to really improve on anything. The main purpose of it is to allow the car to breath a touch easier and not have to replace the filter nearly as often.
I've installed it on 2 cars and didn't make a lick of difference on either the MPG or any performance gains. The only thing it saved me was $30 on air filters throughout the life of the car. Big Whoop.
Save your money for something that will benefit the car.
