K&N Intake for 2.2L
Okay so I installed my K&N intake and I love it, but I think I might of installed something wrong? It just doesn't sound like most cars and well yeah. I'm getting better MPG, Getting more speed and still think something's wrong. Followed all the instructions, here's a pic:
My main question is, when you take the old intake off, there's still this pipe underneath that's not covered. Maybe this is what I think is wrong? Nothing about it was in the instructions
My check engine light also came on today, after I let the car sit for 10minutes it went off so I'm not sure what that was either

make sure your MAF is facing the correct way... as it obstrucks flow and will quiet your engine the wrong way... i did it on accident... didnt throw a code... but the next day i was looking at it and i noticed something looked wrong...

2. turn your steering wheel all the way to the right
3. pull off the three 8mm screws at the bottom of the fender wall holding on the plastic and pull that back
4. take out the screw from the headlight hole and pull out the plastic rivet thing from the fender access.
5. carefully remove the plastic tube through the headlight opening
6. reinstall the headlight and reattach the wheel well lining

it took me about 2 hours to pull that off AND rework my intake from short ram to cold air. and i had only looked at small pix without reading posts... its really easy and worth the time if you want cooler air. it wont help with the sound though... unless your running the stock airbox... like i am back on now with a K&N drop in

i have come to the conclusion that no one has a TRUE cold air intake... hear me out... all they do is pull in COOLER air then whats directly next to the engine... but i say its not enough... so here is my plan... i am going to run some small duct work from my A/C to my intake... when i want true COLD AIR... ill just turn it on... and PRESTO! REAL COLD AIR! lmfao.
do you like your injen CAI? i looked at one back in the day...

It looks ok to me. It is a pretty basic install. As everyone says, make sure the MAFS is installed right and you will be fine. the tube that you speak of is just the resonator portion of the stock air intake. You dont have to worry about that much. however if you want to shed a pount or two then take it out, most of it will come out easy, but if memory serves me correctly there is 1 torx head screw holding it on. I took mine out through the wheel well.
