k&n sri

does anyone know any ways to prevent getting a cel from putting in their K&N short ram because of the excess oil. i heard some weird stuff, i was thinking just sit it by the radiator in my room and see if that will make a difference, but i want some input from people who actually have the intake on their 2.2 with SAI.

thanks

I have the K&N Short ram on my 2.2..I never had a CEL,But after 3 years I looked at the TB,And that had a lot of oil in it..i swaped out to the AEM Dri flow filter..And so far I am happy with it..Nice because there is no oiling it,And cleaning is just as easy..

been running my KnN for a month or 2 now, no CELS from it at all, you only get a cell from excess oil if you put and exessive amount of oiil after cleaning it, from factory, the filters comes ready to go

i understand gettign oil in the TB and intake ports, but its not from the filter, its from the valve cover, it vents into the intake, all that **** builds up after a while, which is why when ichange my spark plugs i clean my TB, and i just recently cleaned out my intake ports, which had oil all over them, but not form the KnN as i havent had it long enough :p

its not like its better its easier maintenance pretty much,if u dont put too much oil on the filter when you clean it you shouldnt have any problems with it, i dont know about AEM but when i got my K&N i got stickers with it

awesome and did you feel a big difference with the intake or was it like very little. cause i'm looking to finally beat that 99' a4 which usually only sits next to me. will this give me that little extra oomph to finally pass him.

little bit off topic. but does anyone here think a stock 2.2 sedan with just a k&n drop-in be able to outdrag a 03 civic coupe?

Yes I got 2 AEM Stickers with the filter...As far as a big power gain no not really, but there will be a noticable differance,And you get the cool noise to go with it...As far as a 03 civic yes you should have np out running him,but is it a SI or base..

nah it's straight base. hubcaps and everything. both are autos if that would make any difference. i think the best part was when i asked him what size engine he has and he said he doesnt know. LOL. or when i asked if he's ever checked his air filter. he said he doesnt know how. yet he thinks he can beat me. at least i have a clean filter.

the whole reason why some ppl get oil on the MAF is because when they reoil it they use way to much oil... out of the box there is no way oil would get on anything

will keep you guys posted, but the one thing that's still keeping me back is the fact that it's been raining here for days. and worn out michi's and rain = wheelspin. and if anyone is looking for a K&N intake for the 2.2, don't plan on getting it anytime soon. i'm not trying to bash here but i ordered mine through CA, but i made sure that before i put the order through that they HAD it, the guy said sure. we got a bunch in our warehouse. turns out they didn't. it's been a month since i ordered and still no product.

i understand it's not their fault. i called K&N direct before i ordered. they didn't have any. well WTF what manufacturer runs outta their own product. sigh.

but when i get it i will def smack julio and his beat a4 with a fart can. lol

well see the real problem was that for some strange reason K&N themselves were sold out. they had it everywhere. sold out, sold out. i asked ttr. sold out. modern racing performance? sold out. so i CALLED Cobalt Addiction. sure man we got it. ordered. a week later i get a call. uh yeah. we don't have it. should be in to you by the second week december. really? nah. it better be here monday or ima whoop some asses.
