Its been done. I theoretically am on the boardline and it scares the **** out of me. And I'm not sure I want to even bother going with more power anyways. I just left a 100+ burnout through 2nd gear practicing launching on my snow tires today. I think I reached the limit of what makes sense for power on a daily driven fwd car. Which is why I went and check out a 240sx today and Have been browsing for LS1's.

Have you done a 4th gear pull on the highway with your mods? Dyno is typically less stress than that unless the drum weighs more than your car, which is unlikely since the cobalt weights in at an obese 3000+ pounds.

Ok well, a 3rd gear pull on the highway then? I've got basically the same deal as you but with stock exhaust and a smaller h/e and likely a better wot tune. You should be fine. I drive this car pretty hard, I dont beat on it but I drive it hard at times.

i wouldnt push our crappy rods much past 260whp... i just dont trust them... the pistons im sure would be ok, but not the rods... bend one... go for it... it may last a month or 2... even 6 if your nice to it... but if you get on it very often at all... its a bad idea. you will end up buying new rods anyways.

Never have I seen a rod go bad when an engine blows, its always a piston issue. I worry more about are pistons than anything, our ringlands suck plain and simple.

Bending rods? Remember the GM racing tests? All 4 rods failed at the same time with a 140 shot of nitrous (280 hp on the engine dyno), but the pistons were ok.

Yesh because the rods failed for them at what would be north of 300 wheel, and you're not making even close to that much. I'd say you'll make no more than 200 wheel since you have an auto, which would mean 210 wheel if you had a stick.
